  1. Hello, my field of research is Art History, I expect to graduate in 2023, and I live in the United States. I am applying to gain access to an archive, which requires one to submit a proposal for consideration. How does the format differ from an academic proposal? What other information besides background, thesis, and methodology do they need? I greatly appreciate the help- my impression of the archive is that they are more selective than most. I am very conscious of formatting and want to get this right.
  2. I struggled with this throughout my first semester and sadly, had to give up my art practice. I too was in a number of arts admin jobs and wanted something better (cataloguing at a major auction house). I had started a photo project in 2017 that was difficult to fit into my schedule between class, commuting, and trying to find funding for my work. I'm hopeful that on the other side of this I'll land a job that will give me enough downtime to go back to making art. I don't know how reliant you are on your work to make a living, but if you are in a position (financially, emotionally) where you can set it aside for a few years, it doesn't mean it's over entirely. I'm confident there will be time after one's studies. Good luck!
  3. Hi, due to delays in getting my financial aid I’ve been locked out of Research Methods which appears to only be available in the Fall. I’m assuming it’s a waste to take on any electives if I don’t have that course under my belt? I did take one course in the Spring and did well. I just figure if I don’t have the basics down I’ll be struggling more than I need to for another year. Many thanks!
  4. Hi, Got into the Art History program at City College of New York and see that I have to pass a language exam at some point during my studies. Has anyone here taken the exam? I'd be taking it in Spanish. I can maintain a conversation and am about a fourth grade reading level. I'm not terribly disciplined so I'm considering taking a non-credit Spanish course this summer to prepare. I know one's mileage may vary, but how difficult is it on the whole? Many thanks!
  5. Thank you for the response. I should have done that sooner. I wasn't cleared until the 7th of this month and this was after multiple phone calls and many minutes at a time on hold for the needed department.
  6. Hello, I was accepted into CCNY's MA Art History program and have submitted all paperwork and payments. In the registration info email I read that one could claim their CUNYFirst account after the 15th. I keep getting a User Not Found message when I punch in all my information. Is it too soon? Should I wait until Monday or Tuesday to try again? I'm worried that my payment and transcript requests have been lost as I didn't receive an confirmation for either. I have yet to send my immunization paperwork, but that should be in by this week. Should I have received confirmation or other notices regarding everything I've sent in? I admit I'm overeager. I want to know what my financial aid package will be so I can secure additional funds if needed. The classes I want to take already have some filled seats and I don't want to miss out. Many thanks!
