Out of nowhere, can I just say, what the helllllllll is wrong with UPenn? If you read their weekly Applied Grad Student Q&As, you'll see they absolutely refuse to commit to having decisions out by April 15th. That seems incredibly, incredibly nerve-wracking for someone with a few offers but Penn definitely has a chance to best #1 (…. like me). On one hand, their visit weekends are already over, but on the other hand, they said in the chat that they still have "a majority' of decisions left to make. WTFFFFF ?

That being said, barring Penn, University of Maryland was awesome. And then Delaware came through on their visit by showing off the so-new-they're-moving-in-next-year building. But Penn's holdout is stressful af. Thx bye

Absolutely agreeing on UPenn. A friend of mine got acceptance on 25th of April last year. That's so unfair of them (I can't comprehend why would they do this after charging a good amount of application fees as well)

I was admitted to Georgia Tech about two weeks ago, but I'm not sure if they send the decisions out periodically or all at once.

Congratulations! GT is one of my top choices and I wish they haven't finalized all the acceptances. :)

Hi! I was admitted to GT/Emory BME program back in January. I am not sure if they are done sending invites but the visit weekend is March 7th - 9th (at least for me). I know they didn't send out all decisions at once because before I got mine, other students had received their acceptance letter. Hope this helps.

That's awesome to be accepted that early! Congrats! So apparently they are done sending accepts. (Just curious why there aren't many GT acceptances or rejects in the Results page though)

  3. Has anyone heard from Georgia Tech BME and Wisconsin Madison? Compared to last years it is rather strange that no one has yet been contacted. I see that UCSD, Duke, have given out some interviews, but just curious if they still send out acceptances. Carnegie Mellon was like we are working on it in an email last week, but apparently not yet!

  4. I am an international student invited for the interview at Stanford university for the 3 day interview for the admission to the PhD in bioengineering program.

I am curious to know what usually happens in a US school interview. Can someone share their interview experience on the above program so I can get myself ready with confidence. Much thanks in advance !

I just got the invite call from Stanford!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard back from a Professor at Stanford and I am really excited!!!
Since I am an international student, I wanted to get some stuff cleared from you guys.

    1. I was told to expect an official invitation to the graduate interviews on March 7/8. I gather that this would be an on-campus interview. Do you have any idea whether international students are funded for interview visits? Even if so, I am worried if I would make it since getting a visa to the US is really really hard from my country :(
    2. Since a Professor contacted me, would I be supervised by him if I were accepted (I really like his lab group though) without getting to do lab rotations?

From what I've heard, typically international students don't get to invited to visit the university. I would suggest talking to the director of admissions or whoever you're in contact with.

    Congrats! :)))

Thank you for the idea. I will write to the admission director!

an international student on reddit mentioned having to make the decision without a visit for BU

    Edit:

Haha, that is actually me :D

If I were you, I'd start contacting potential PIs and ask them to put you in contact with their graduate students. The students could give you Skype/Facetime tours and talk to you about other stuff you may be interested in. Congratulations on your admission!

I have an alumnus from my home university who is currently doing a PhD at BU. Thanks for the idea. I will speak to them!

  7. Hello all,

I have applied to several schools for PhDs under fall 2019 admission. Do all schools reply with decisions before the April 15 deadline to confirm schools that offer admission. Is it possible to receive acceptance from my dream school after the deadline to confirm with other schools that I receive admission? Is there any precaution/remedy to this situation? Or does this never happen? Thanks in advance for helping me out!

@Athif M Stats look pretty competitive for the schools that you're applying to. Are you looking to swap some of the ones on the list out or add safe schools to the existing list and apply to more than 13? Some others could be WPI, Stevens Institute of Technology.

Also, which MIT program? BioE and HST look for different things in admissions.

Thanks, @laveritecestla , Sure definitely, I would love to have some safe schools in my list. Suggestions are greatly appreciated. I am applying to MIT BioE.
