    Hey guys!

Congratulations to everyone on here who got in!

I'm a domestic student and Carleton Central for NPSIA still says "under review by department". I'm slightly confused as this means that I'm on waitlist or that I'm not getting in? Doesn't NPSIA send out rejections if that's the deal?

I did email Tabattha last week about it but still haven't heard back. Also, are NPSIA admissions all out now (except international?)

    Thanks :)

my offer for npsia expires on monday and i know for a lot of my friends who got an extension, their offer expires on the same day. i think second round offers have already gone out so you may possibly be waitlisted (idk) but anyway, you should probably hear back next week, as more people make their final decisions on monday on which offers to accept and spots open up!

  2. For my NPSIA funding package, it says on Carleton Central that they are for 2019 - 2020 and I am just wondering if anyone knows if that amount is for over the two years as a whole, or if they will be recalculating the funding for 2020/2021?

Edit: Never mind, I just re-read my letter and realized all the information was online lol

I had the same issue. My reference is time-stamped at approximately 2:00am on Feb 1 even though it was sent in on Jan 31. I am sure they are aware of this issue and count it as of the actual date it was sent in?

i emailed the graduate information coordinate (for Carleton generally, not NPSIA) and she said that even though processing times may take a bit to show up, they are able to see what time that referees submitted the form. so hopefully, even though the "received" date shows up as later than the Jan 31st deadline, it should be fine!

    good luck to everyone!

Hello I am an international student and I applied to NPSIA January 2. I have a Masters in Public Health (Health Policy and Management) and working experience also. But I am not an economics major, is anyone here in the same category?

i don't think you need to be an economics major, i know if you haven't fulfilled the basic economics requirement, you can still receive an acceptance but it will just be conditional on if you get that credit by the time the fall semester starts

what streams did you guys pick for NPISA?

That's what I was thinking as well because I could have sworn I looked at the MGA website in October and the video component wasn't there. I'll be doing mine tomorrow. Ahh

yes, they added the component later in! i remember looking at it and being really confused because i had previously checked the website the day before and it wasn't there. so hopefully!!! this isn't being weighed that heavily!

good luck! you get around a three second warning (they do those little beeps to warn you) at the end of the 5 minute prep session before they start recording. it kind of threw me off when they started recording right away, so be mindful of that.

did you submit the rest of your application documents already?

Wow that's a bit terrifying. I guess they are really adding this component to stream people out. I wonder how heavily it weighs compared to other aspects of the application

i hope its not weighed heavily LOL

the thing is that the video component is not included in the SGS document submission checklist so i am wondering if they added this to stream out people who haven't read the application instructions? or maybe this is just me thinking wishfully because i do not think i will do well on this part LOL.

i just completed mine and the question was not difficult but it was just very nerve wracking to do!

I've been done for a few weeks now! Just been hesitant on submitting my statements - always feel like I can keep improving them, ya know? Goal was to get them in by Jan 1 though! All my references are in, so that's nice peace of mind. It's nice how they let your references submit before you submit your statements. They must be swamped with letters.

I have a really niche topic that most schools don't really tackle, so I'm only applying to (in ranked order): NPSIA, U of Calgary, Munk.

    How about yourself?

I am also applying to Munk and NPSIA, as well as the global governance program at BSIA. My top choices are between Munk and BSIA right now. I'm still currently working on my statements so I am kind of kicking myself in the butt for not starting earlier LOL.

If you don't mind me asking, did you submit your video question portion of the Munk application yet? I was surprised when they added it onto the application requirements this year and am a little bit nervous since there doesn't seem to be much you can do to prepare!

  8. hello! thanks for starting this thread, i couldn't find many others on international/global affairs programs for 2019. how far into your application process are you? i have contacted and secured my referees but due to a crazy fall semester, i am only now starting my personal statement, so i am a little concerned that i am behind! are you applying to any other schools?

    Hi everyone,

I'm a recent graduate with a bachelor's in Public Administration. Decided recently that I want to get into political economy, and I plan to apply for NPSIA. But I have a B+ average from my last two years, and my only experience is me volunteering in the school's UN Student Organization, and currently I intern for an international research group. Does anyone know if that's enough, or should I say fuck it, cuz my grades are pretty shite...

Thanks for the comment and advice

hi there! i currently go to carleton and what i have heard is that generally NPSIA weighs experience very heavily so i would say don't lose hope just because you don't have a perfect GPA. i think the fact that you intern for an international research group and are involved in IR extracurriculars are def beneficial, especially if u were able to raise your gpa a bit over this past semester. you meet the minimum grade requirements so i would say as long as you have a strong statement, your application stands a chance so don't give up yet!
