  1. It was Electrical Engineering during the fall term. So its almost impossible that a department that size wasn't accepting grad students.
  2. I applied to the University of Marryland, and never heard back from them. On September 10th, they sent me this, what does it mean? Some time ago you initiated an application for admission to the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ENEE) program for the Fall 2019. Unfortunately, we have been unable to make a decision concerning your eligibility for admission because the program was not able to come to an admission recommendation. We realize that you may have made other plans and are thus no longer pursuing admission to the University of Maryland. In the absence of any specific instructions from you, we have withdrawn your application from consideration. If you wish to be considered for admission in a future term, you will be required to complete a new application (accompanied by another application fee) and submit any required documents. There are no exceptions to this policy. Please use your assigned University Identification Number (UID) on any future application or correspondence. Your interest in the University of Maryland is appreciated and we offer our best wishes to you for the future. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the program office or the Graduate School.
  3. I go to a small engineering school that didn't have a PhD program in my major until this semester. I currently work in the department chair's lab and he has been asking me about applying as a PhD student. I told him that it didn't make sense to make any new applications since I have already been accepted at 6 schools, (2 of which top 12 in the US). He seemed visibly shaken, which is odd since he was the prof who told me to apply to so many schools. Is there something I am missing?
