So I was reading some other SSHRC related threads and apparently some people have started to hear back?? Does anyone know if this is accurate? I remember people receiving feedback at different times last year, so I really have no idea when I'm going to hear back.

Hey, everyone. I've been watching the forum all day and thought I'd finally chime in. I'm in psychology at the U of S and haven't heard back yet. I know someone else in psych at the U of S who heard back this morning, though. This whole process confuses me.

So I got accepted into and intend to enrol in an MA/PhD transfer program. Basically, I’ll spend the first year in the Masters program and then transfer into the PhD in my second year. That means two things: 1) I’m not doing a Masters thesis; 2) I don’t have to reapply for the PhD. I was just wondering if anyone has done a program like this and what your experiences are like?
I guess I should also mention that I’m from Canada, where the norm is to do a Masters then a PhD.

Hey, thanks for commenting. I’ve taken a long time to consider it and I’ve made my decision. I’ve decided to go with school A. Of the offers I have, it is by far the most appealing, and I can’t see myself going to any of the schools I haven’t heard from yet. My program is psychology btw!

So I have two offers. I’m heavily leaning towards one school, but I’m worried that I’m making the wrong decision for my career and my life. Here are the pros and cons to each school:
A: allows me to do the research I’m passionate about; higher stipend; POI has offered me a publication already; lower cost of living; closer to home; PhD program; middle of nowhere
B: I’m not as passionate about the research; lower stipend; higher cost of living; further from home; MA program; more prestigious university; closer to big cities
Like I said, I’m heavily leaning towards A, but I’m worried that I’m making the wrong decision. School A isn’t as well known. Would it be harder to find an academic job afterwards if I went to A? Thanks!

My score last year was like 10.4 so I'll take a 15.4. Still bummed out about no funding, though. At least I have other scholarships, so it's not like I was desperate for SSHRC funding. Good luck to everyone else!
