Congrats! I am still waiting to hear from several schools and I need to figure out financial aid because I do not have a penny in savings to cover the remaining tuition + housing in Boston (I have 2 dogs so a roommate situation isn’t ideal for me, but even tiny studios in Boston are very expensive). But of my remaining schools to hear from, SMFA is definitely at the top so I’m determined to find a way to do it.

If we both end up in Boston we should meet up!

OMG... I have a one-year old husky! We should definitely meet up if we both decide to go to Boston haha!

I got an acceptance letter from SMFA!!!!! And a $15,000 a year scholarship!!!!! If there was an emoji for fainting and then laying on the ground giggling with glee that would be me haha. SOOOOO much RELIEF!!! Hopefully this is just the first acceptance and I’ll have some options but if not, I’m BEYOND HAPPY and I am DETERMINED to figure out funding this!

I got an offer from them as well! Congrats!  Have you decided whether you want to take their offer? I  also interviewed Boston university and I really can't make my decisio.

  3. Their interview were sent out last month. I knew it because they told me I was the last person they interviewed. But I'm not sure if the program you've applied requires interviews or not. I applied sculpture.

  4. I had my interview with USC last week. There are 3 committee members presented but it was much more like a relaxing conversation than a formal interview. The signal was really really really bad though... I literally had my face sticked on my keyboard to hear what they asked.

For anyone with an upcoming SMFA interview, or really any interview:

Had my interview with Ethan Murrow from SMFA last Thursday. Questions were about my current work, my current career, reasons for choosing to pursue an MFA, specifically why SMFA, what am I trying to convey through my work, influences and more specific questions were built upon my responses. Very interested in what I hoped or planned on doing with my work, conceptually, professionally and practice-wise. Discussed in depth what I could contribute to SMFA and what made me different from other applicants. He stated that he only had access to my portfolio prior to our Skype interview and was not privy to supporting material (ie. resume, statement, application, transcripts). He did not even have info regarding where I am located or what my undergrad degree is. So I briefed him on all that info. Very causal, equally informative as questioning, went slightly over the allotted 30 mins, he mentioned that my answers to questions also answered questions that were on his list, so I suppose I seemed well prepared. I followed up with thank you emails to both him and Lennon, both of whom responded promptly and positively. He even provided further faculty contacts for me to pursue specific to my skills and interests.

I interviewed with SMFA on 2/13, and also sent Lennon a thank you email, but did't get his response. I hope that's not a bad news. My interviewer mentioned that this year they are looking for students with double degrees like me, and I thought my interview went well. I wish they could send out their decision letters ASAP because this waiting time is so frustrating.

I applied Massart(Design), RISD (2-year GD), ACCD(GD), CalArts(GD), Pratt(communication design). But submitted applications near ddl. Not received any notifications until now. Has anyone received an interview? Plus, I don’t know whether they send interview invitations together after reviewing, or senting while reviewing?

I applied RISD, and they said in their email that most of the dept don't interview applicants....I don't know about other schools that you applied, but I heard that Pratt started to send out their invitations since last week.

I wasn't rejected by SAIC but from what I gather their interview weekend is this upcoming weekend (I have an interview with the art and tech Dept). I heard someone else say they've sent all interview letters out by now.

I just received their rejection letter today via mail. I would stay check your mail box and if you haven't received any letter from them, I think that is a good sign. Good luck on your interview. I'm having an interview with SMFA tomorrow morning and I'm so freaking out.

  8. Does UCLA always give their interview through phone calls? Anyone receive an email?  I did get a lot of calls from California (during week days), but I had classes and work shifts so I missed them all......... Is it a bad news? I mean, before calling shouldn't they send an email to schedule a phone interview?????

I just know a little bit about the interview. If a non-English international student don’t have a high language grade, maybe he/she will receive a language interview invitation.

I applied the program as permanent resident so I don't think that's the case for me but thank you for the info. I also had a friend who applied RISD last year as international student and she didn't receive an interview invitation and was on the waitlist. Her got the decision from RISD in mid-march.

Hi all, I got a call from a UCLA faculty member last night who wanted to talk about my portfolio and asked a few other questions. He indicated that finalists would hear back from them in about a month. Caught me totally off guard and the connection was bad but it went well hopefully!

To which program did you apply?

  11. For those who have been rejected by saic, did you ever received an notification of rejection? I haven't heard from saic for an interview, but I got an email noticing that they downloaded my e-transcript last week....I tried to send email to the grad department and they never replied me. I am so confused.
