  1. Jordan...so I feel like I should have gotten a rejection email or something, but I guess not lol
  2. Congratulations!! That's awesome
  3. Yeah, nothing still. Assuming I didn't get it at this point, but I really thought the stress would be over by 5........ ?
  4. Yeah, I applied for the general scholarship and I haven't heard yet. Have any general scholarship applicants heard?
  5. I had the same thing happen and now I'm worried...
  6. I've been lurking on this thread to try to soften the blow if I don't get it, because at least for other scholarships, I know they send out acceptance emails first. I would assume Boren would do the same, but seeing as they send students to so many different regions, I'm not sure if they'll send out notification emails to all applicants or if they are separated by region.
  7. Where did you find these? I'm wondering if there are similar statistics for the general scholarship.
  8. Does anyone know the time of day they have sent out emails notifying applicants of their status? I know someone earlier in this thread said last year it was around 1:30 p.m. Does anyone know if that is consistent with other years or if it's been in the morning as well?
  9. I applied there as well, starting in level 2. What level are you? Are you going with CLS this summer or another program?
  10. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing (give or take a day or two). I haven't gotten a second budget email, anyone else? I was thinking either today or next week sometime based on past dates. As a side note, I anxiously check this thread often to see if anyone else has gotten the second budget email, but I really would not like that to be the way I find out I didn't get the scholarship lol
  11. Oh whoops, sorry. Didn't read your first post closely enough. But yeah, I'm assuming that's just part of the process. Not sure why they only took it away now, but assuming at least one person in this thread is getting the award (fingers crossed for everyone), it seems like it's across the board and not indicative of much.
  12. What option exactly? The button that asks if I want to upload any additional documents is still there. Are you talking about something else?
  13. @ all of the alternates who haven't been promoted (yet): out of curiosity, what are your summer plans?
  14. It does seem that way, at least based on when everyone said they received the first budget email. I'm not sure about earlier years, but at least from last year, it looks like everyone who was awarded the scholarship (aside from special programs) received the second budget email, while alternates and rejected applicants did not. Although, I agree. I feel like it would make more sense to only send a second budget email to those whose budgets were unclear.
  15. I applied for a non-AFLI scholarship and I haven't received one (yet). I am actually concerned about this one, because from the spreadsheet it DOES seem that the people who were rejected didn't get it.
  16. Oh cool. I was looking at CET's programs and they looked really good. I'm a senior at the moment so I applied to just study accelerated Arabic at Qasid Arabic Institute in Amman. Also, I love your username! Hahahaha
  17. Same here! What university/institute did you apply to?
  18. Hey! I do think it takes a few days to send out notifications. From what I've heard, program directors send alternates notifications a few days to a week or two after the deadline, because they have to send their recommendations to be approved by 'the board' and then, assuming alternates were not sent to the State Department for clearance, alternates have to be approved by the State Department before they are notified. I agree though. It probably is slimmer after the first round. I've been thinking about other plans and preliminarily making plans so I'll be less disappointed (hopefully) if I'm not selected in the first round. I have, however, heard that it is pretty common for finalists to accept their award and decline it later as other awards come out in March and April. I know the Boren is mid-April & I think a lot of people apply to both CLS and Boren. So that's hopeful, I suppose!
  19. I saw a Facebook post in the CLS Applicants group that was from Chinese alternates talking about their potential placement site if they are selected. Did any other alternates get any information about their potential placement site? I'm an Arabic alternate (so there are three potential countries and four potential sites) but I haven't heard anything.
  20. I got the survey email as well. I was expecting the first budget email sometime next week based on past dates. That sounds promising!! Do you know if they do that for other languages?
  21. I'm an alternate for Advanced Beginning Arabic. I totally feel the same way. Just upset that the waiting has to continue haha
