What difference will it make in terms of employment(&pusuing phd) if u go course based or thesis based Mph?

thesis based mph heads towards rather research relating employment

Oh I meant about your rejection from SFU

They said "I regret to inform you that your application for admission to the Health Sciences MPH program in the Faculty of Health Sciences was unsuccessful. We received many excellent applications this year and the admissions committee that reviewed your application was unable to recommend admission. We receive far more applications for admission than we can possibly admit due to resource limitations and therefore some deserving applicants cannot be admitted."

  3. This is kinda irrelevant but anyone can give me advices on switching from Mph to Msc? I have been accepted to mph program in western and i took the offer. Is there any way i can switch to msc?

lol just asking because i found out msc has big scholarship n funding, also it lasts 2 year which is gonna be more fun to me :D

    thanks in advance hehe

I'm sorry to hear that. Did they notify you through email or portal? What did it say?

Oh i received a pretty long email indicating that I have been accepted to the program and that email did attach a letter from the dean of the department

As other people have said, I believe that yes you can switch, but the deposit is probably non-refundable.

Just so you know, I was accepted to SFU on March 14 and my letter says I have 14 days to reply. Assuming other people received their offers at around the same time, I'd assume the deadlines are around end of March for everyone, so they'll probably start sending out more offers in April from the people who declined!

    Best of luck!

Thank you so much! Congrats on the offer ^__^

Yes, you can accept the offer for the mean time. I do know that you just won't get your deposit back if you decide to accept SFU's offer

According to SFU's webinar, they send out offers as late as August.

really? I never think it's gonna be that late as an international student like me will not be able to apply for visa for September term :<

I believe you can switch, you just won't get your deposit back I'm guessing...but I'm not 100% sure. When do you have to accept Western by?

I remember that I read somewhere the deadline was April 15. But to be sure I will probably take the offer at the end of March if I dont hear anything from SFU. Thanks for your reply ^_^

  8. Guys, I have one question. i got accepted to western uni. But I was waiting for SFU at the same time. The deadline to Accept or decline an offer for western is coming real close. If I accept the offer but then find out I have offers from SFU, can i switch to SFU? If yes, does that mean I will not have my deposit back right?

i emailed SFU a week ago to ask when they would stop sending offers but still no replies...

Just got acceptance at Waterloo! I've now heard back from all schools and time for decisions.. I was set on UAlberta but now I'm unsure. Any input on UWaterloo vs UAlberta for MPH???? HELP!

Uwaterloo has MPH? Is it an online course? I checked Uwaterloo before and I'm pretty sure tho....

No I’d like to do international child health program development. I got accepted to UofA, SFU, and LSHTM as well but I chose western as it’s closer to home and works better for my life right now. It seems worth it but I’m willing to give it a shot!

    congrats to you again!

    Hey everyone!

I just accepted western’s offer and declined SFU MPH and UofA’s MPH Global Health stream...best of luck to everyone who applied!

Congratsss. I got accepted to western university too. The mph in western uni is a bit intense, i'm wondering if u r interested in studying Mph concentrating on leadership skill?

I was looking over last years forum for MPH and someone got a response back from SFU on March 5, so we should be hearing back from them soon hopefully.

I did see they have the new curriculum updated and I hope it is the reason for the delay. I rl hope I can get into SFU. Such an ideal university for MPH

Good luck to all of us!!

After hearing on January 30th that I was rejected from the University of Saskatchewan MPH program, I received an email today that a spot had opened up and I have been accepted! I was never notified about being on a waitlist or anything so I assumed that the response I got in January was a final decision.

If it was someone on this forum who recently turned down their offer, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

    omg congratssssssssssssss!! You are lucky

I applied at SFU, too. Haven’t heard back from them.

I did some backreading from MPH Canada 2018 thread and SFU only started notifying applicants late March to mid April.

really? I was expecting it would come in March. Many schools need students to accept offer in the early April... I guess I should not wait too long or I will miss the deadline to accept other schools' admission offer

Hi, were you not required to mail copies of official transcripts with your initial application? Maybe I was mistaken, but it said on their website that part of the required documents is to mail 2 hard copies of official transcripts.

I was wondering the same thing. I sent my official transcripts right after I submitted the online application. I still did not see any check mark next to Step 4 in the online application but they emailed me and said they had received my transcripts. Haven't heard anything from them since, I really had my finger crossed for SFU :(
