  1. Hey all, congratulations on your acceptances so far! You're going to do great. I just finished the first year of my MPH at the University of Saskatchewan. I felt like the university website didn't have a lot of information about the program online, so if you're planning on attending USask and have questions feel free to send me a message! Good luck everyone!
  2. I posted my profile earlier in this forum here!
  3. From what I've been told there isn't a huge difference, but doing the thesis based MPH will (allegedly) make it easier for you to pursue a Ph.D in the future. Of course if you're looking for a job specifically in public health research it may be in your favour to do the thesis-based MPH, but I was more or less told that I wouldn't be at a disadvantage for employment if I did one over the other. That's just one perspective on it, though!
  4. I accepted onsite as I've got a supervisor lined up for the thesis-based track, and I had to accept by April 1. Good luck with Lakehead, Victoria, and Waterloo!
  5. I finally received a rejection from SFU, so I have accepted my offer to USask. If anyone else has accepted their offer, I'd love to chat and get to know people ahead of time so feel free to send me a DM! Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back from their programs!
  6. Could I DM you my email address and get you to forward that to me? I never got it, even though my email address is up to date in the application portal and whatnot. So stressful!
  7. Have any in-province (BC) SFU applicants heard back yet? I haven't received an email nor any updates in the portal...
  8. This could mean that if others decline their offers, they will re-evaluate more applications and you may get an acceptance as well! Don't give up yet! Thank you both very much! I am a domestic applicant, out of province. UBC 2018 graduate, BSc microbiology with a language minor, average 77% Unclassified studies at UBC 2018-2019, average 88% 4+ years volunteer and work experience doing science and engineering outreach and teaching middle and high school-aged children 2+ years cumulative work experience Indigenous health non-profits, government departments, and university departments Made arrangements last summer with a USask professor apply for entry to the MPH thesis stream and work on a project with him (I included this on my application and in my letter of intent as well) Unrelated but relevant experience: University Senate student representative, executive member of a number of clubs and course unions, 4 years of middle-management experience I was very interested in pursuing education before I realized that I had an interest in public health, so the majority of my work and volunteer experience was teaching and mentoring high school students. I don't have a conventional profile by any means, so anything is possible! Good luck!
  9. After hearing on January 30th that I was rejected from the University of Saskatchewan MPH program, I received an email today that a spot had opened up and I have been accepted! I was never notified about being on a waitlist or anything so I assumed that the response I got in January was a final decision. If it was someone on this forum who recently turned down their offer, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
  10. Nothing wrong with the program to my knowledge, but U of M seemed to have strict rules on which undergraduate degrees it would accept students from, most of which were professional degrees (medicine, pharmacy, nursing etc.). I have a BSc in microbiology so I figured I wouldn't make the cut. Also, I've visited Winnipeg and I couldn't picture myself living there. Good luck with your application!
  11. Got a rejection from Health Policy and Management yesterday afternoon. Congratulations to those who have received offers and good luck to those still waiting to hear back!
  12. Been lurking for a while, but thought I may as well hop on here. I applied to USask (rejected), U of A Health policy and Management, and SFU. U of A portal still says "decision pending", and I can't really find anything on the SFU portal that says anything either. Really crossing my fingers for SFU though as it's close to home and I've been away for the last 6 years. Good luck to everyone else and congratulations to those who have already gotten an acceptance somewhere!
