  1. Folks. I am in a bit of pickle. Currently I am finishing up a Econ master in US. It is designed as a stepping stone towards a PhD. Therefore, it is not easy to find a job with it as an international student. Unfortunately, my chronic pain worsened over the last year. So, I don't think I can survive a PhD program. I am looking at US and Canada statistics masters that will help me find a job. My primary goal is to stay in a western country, because the difference in medical care is just too great. I will have a better chance of curing my chronic condition here than going back. 1. How does statistics admission view econ students? 2. Will I have a chance at top masters? 3. How is the job market for statistics masters in US or Canada? I know I am in a very unique situation. So any advice is appreciated. Thank you so much.
  2. 1. Would it be true to say that health policy is closer to health economics? 2. I already know R and Stata, should I learn SAS? 3. I am currently taking second-semester graduate econometrics. Should I take machine learning next semester? Is it useful? Thank you again for your response.
  3. Thank you so much for your response and encouraging words. Is there anything I should do to bolster my application? Any software I should learn? I saw that both health policy and global health and population programs have an economics focus. What is the difference?
  4. Hey folks, I am a first-year economics master student, and I want to apply to Phd in public health, fall 2019. But I have no clue what kind of applicants they are looking for. And I want to improve my application as much as I can. I am interested in Health policy, Health economics, and population health. Please enlighten me. I am very new to public health. So all help will be appreciated. Thank you.
