Hi everyone! I just found this forum and I'm impressed by all the amazing information and advice available. You guys are amazing! I'm starting to prepare my application materials for next cycle, and I have some questions about interdisciplinary programs focused on media theory, visual culture and digital humanities. I decided to post this in here, as I don't see much happening in the interdisciplinary studies forum and I imagine many of you are familiar / already attending programs in this field. As far as I know, there are very good programs with excellent faculty focusing on media theory, digital humanities and visual culture, such as Duke, MIT, Stanford, NYU, Chicago. I've also heard about Rochester's Visual and Cultural Studies program. This has been a very well regarded program, since it was founded by Mieke Bal and Michael Ann Holly, and it was one of the first visual studies departments created in the United States. But is it still a strong program? It offers full funding for 5 years, and I think it would be a great fit, but I'm worried about applying to an interdisciplinary program at a non top 10 university in terms of job prospects and placement. And what about UC Santa Cruz or UC Irvine Visual Studies Program? Any advice will be highly appreciated!
