  1. That was my other concern. There's one person that sits in the back of my mind as that possibility, but I just hope that wouldn't be the case. Would you mind if I PM'd you the SOP?
  2. Not sure if people remember me, but I posted my stats after last application cycle and sadly I got denied without any interviews, and I was looking for answers. The glaring feedback was that it was likely not my stats, but rather other fine details like possibly my SOP or LOR's? Well, I've created a new SOP for this application cycle and was curious if anyone who has been accepted may be willing to give it a look for some constructive feedback? Brief overview of my undergrad efforts. GPA- 4.0 in MCB with minors in biochem and business admin GRE- 5.5w/169Q/165V >1500 research hours with 1 publication, and likely 1-4 publications within the next 8-10 months New CRISPR method that I've developed that's currently being studied for further assessment/validity of efficiency. Please let me know if you'd be willing to look over my SOP, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  3. I appreciate all of the responses. I too was wondering about the LOR's. I had my PI and another professor who wrote an LOR review my SOP. They both gave me the stamp of approval, but maybe it was still not what they wanted? I would be more than happy to send my SOP to get the feedback if anybody has the time, maybe that can give me some insight into ways I can improve for the next application cycle. I don't want to think I could have had a less than favorable LOR, but I suppose it's possible? Thank you.
  4. What went wrong? 5 schools applied to, 0 interviews, 5 rejections. Tough to discuss as I thought I had dotted all the i's and crossed all t's. Feel free to give me your input/feedback. In short, I applied to 5 MCB or genetics programs. They consist of: UWashington, MIT, Harvard, Duke, and Stanford. In 3 years, I finished with a 4.0 majoring in MCB with minors in biochem and business administration. I had a 5.5 writing, 164 verbal, 167 quantitative. I'm only a secondary author on 1 paper which hurts, but I did complete my own CRISPR research that is at the very least going to receive a provisional patent, along with being the primary author on the methods paper. Everybody I've talked to, including several post docs who went to Harvard said I'm more than qualified, yet I wasn't even offered interviews. Any insight or recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.
