  1. gahhh from U of A and know I won but still no letter - anybody in Edmonton still not receive their letter? I'm getting worried it was lost and I need to scan it and send it to my school to start payments!
  2. CONGRATS TBAY!!!!!!!
  3. Hey congrats!!! Mine stated CGS-D too. Is that the 35,000 per year one?
  4. Just found out I won a bombardier! Here at the U of A !
  5. Lol this whole system sounds truly awful, the more we learn about it
  6. just to confirm - FGSR said they wouldn't tell you today? Did they seem to imply they would email you at any point or did they say wait for the letter? Also from U of A haha....
  7. Yes, please keep us posted! I have maxed out my emails to the awards office now...haha ?
  8. It's true - last year my institution let successful applicant know only, and all unsuccessful applicants had to wait for the ominous letter (I even emailed them last year and they told me they didn't know when others had already been told at my institution they were successful)
  9. SAME! I've literally put off editing a paper until today (when it is due!!) because I've been so stressed and anxious. I spent the week in and out of bed in a pretty depressed and anxious state, watching tv.
  10. Yes! Thanks for bringing up these points.
  11. Yeah, I re-emailed and my awards office said that they'll have the results in "a couple weeks time".... ah!!
  12. they are torturing us on purpose now LOL
  13. This is a good question. If I don't win, then I'll be spending the next year also living below the poverty line (off a 30,000 stipend but 6,000 of that will be going to tuition). I don't know what I'll do, as I'm deep in debt on my credit card and student loans already. Not winning a SSHRC will mean I cannot do my planned exchange abroad in third year as well. Plan B is basically to cut down all expenses from an already meagre budget and figure out how to survive for the next year, and re-apply to SSHRC. I'm glad everyone is sharing so honestly and openly about this! These conversations are needed!
  14. I can confirm SSHRC has not mailed the letters yet, as I asked them if it would be possible to change the address my letter is being sent to and they said this morning that would be fine. Going a little crazy over here
  15. nope. I emailed SSHRC, my grad chair and my university awards office and none of them have heard the results yet. I'm in Alberta, if that helps. Already seems like they are behind this year.
  16. I just cracked and email SSHRC about when they will be mailing letters - doubt they will respond until Monday but..... I had to do it! I'll keep you all posted.
  17. Ooops - messed up quoting that last post. Also I'm at the U of A ! Wondering if you are too and if so, did you receive the email from FGSR?
  18. Also I'm at the U of A ! Wondering if you are too and if so, did you receive the email from FGSR?
  19. I was told by my graduate awards office that they find out after I receive my letter and they they aren given no information prior to that. Which makes zero sense, and I think is a lie...haaaa. Sounds like you've won, tho!
  20. You are amazing. I was going to do this too.
  21. no tweet from SSHRC yet
  22. maybe off topic: does anyone remember how the beginning of a SSHRC award letter starts if it is a rejection, a waitlist or a successful award? I'm trying to mentally prepare for a rejection, but I forget what my last year's rejected letter with. Similarly, does a waitlist or award start with "congratulations or we are pleased to.." ? #anxiety
  23. It's a real tough slog, but its all out of our hands now and I'm sure that you, like me, poured your effort and time into your SSHRC app -- I'm proud of all of us for going through this gruelling process and for doing the best we can!
  24. Anybody in Edmonton waiting on SSHRC results know when we might expect them? I was in BC last year and got my letter May 3 I think.
  25. Currently wracked with anxiety. Made it to nationals last year as well, but received something like a score of 9.8??? Ouch! Anyways, not doing much to stay positive, trying to prep myself for another rejection!!
