Hi Friends!
I am in a tough situation, and have until next Friday to make my final decision. My style is more classical (figurative oil portraiture) so I obviously was drawn to and applied to both New York Academy of Art and New York Studio School.
I've been accepted into the MFA program at NYSS with some financial aid/awards which will make the cost of going there comparable to Hunter, which is amazing. Also knowing their class sizes are so small (avg. 13 ppl/class) appeals to me as it makes me feel I will get more one on one time, and not be lost in an MFA factory type program.
I find out next TH. re: NYAA, and from what the admissions department says, I'm most likely going to be offered a slot. I had NYAA ranked as #1 in my mind for painting all along, but now I'm trying to really analyze and weigh the pros and cons of both. NYAA has far larger class sizes, with much smaller painting areas (so small they cant even be called studios). I also don't expect to be offered any awards as they have way more ppl applying/the pools larger.
Can anyone that is familiar with both of these schools please help offer insight and advice? This is an incredibly important and difficult decision to make, and I'm trying to gather as much info as possible.
Thanks in advance!
