  1. Thanks so much for the reply !!! I am only interested in a masters as doing a PhD in design doesnt really make sense to me. I did my undergrad in mechanical engineering, and wanted to specialize in a not so technical field so i chose industrial/product design. Georgia Tech has asked me to take 1 year of preparatory courses because of my background. THis is the main reason why i dont wanna go to Gatech. Also, gatech is considerably more expensive - $40,000 (tuition + living) and for three years , it totals up to $120,000 !!!! TU Delft on the other hand costs about $40,000 for both years (tuition + living) and I can afford it even if i dont get any aid. I wanted to go to Gatech because I am interested in design of musical instruments and they have a pretty famous center for musical technology that does research with my department (industrial design). But on mailing those profs, they said they were not in a position to give an RA. So i am pretty sure i will have to shell the money out of my pocket. TU delft has one of the first industrial design departments in the world, it is famous. They have a specialization in automotive design which I am interested in. The only problem is the job scene. Though I am allowed to work in Netherlands for one year after completion of course, I keep hearing tat getting a job is difficult. Is it really so? But during that one year, I can go anywhere in th EU looking for a job. And is getting a job actually a problem after Masters? Because I remember, during my final year at undergrad, there were hundreds of companies wiling to hire us.
  2. Wow! I have an admit from Gatech and TU Delft. Though Georgia Tech has a great brand name for engineering, I think I would go for TU Delft. The course suits me better. What do you think my friend?
  3. good thing is I dont have to pay any deposit on accepting the offer. I think I am just going to accept it, wait for the scholarship results and then reject ... I dont care much if they get annoyed with me since they are not giving me any funding unless they sue me or black list me or something ..
  4. is confused , confused , confused !!

  5. I was waitlisted for Georgia Tech for their Masters in Industrial Design program and accepted last week. They have asked me to make a decision by this weekend, but I am in no state to decide right now, as I have not got any scholarship results. I cannot attend if I do not get a scholarship. What if I send in an acceptance letter right now, and then later reject it because of financial difficulties? I do have a vaild reason. Please give me some ideas on this. Has anyone faced similar situations before?? Thanks everyone for their replies like always.
  6. not yet , but i m keeping my fingers crossed.. i would like to go to gatech too, but what about the 120,000 !!! i have tried contacting profs for assistantships, but none seem too interested .. there is no way i can afford a six figure loan .. tu delft seems like the only viable option now ..
  7. I got admitted to Master of Industrial Design program, though they have asked me to take one year of undergrad classes. Is nt that weird? No other school has done that. I may not attend because of this .. Does anyone have an idea about funding at Gatech for international students? If its not too bad, I might consider spending extra on that one year.
  8. Hey I might be going to Delft this Fall. Is it true that Delft is a boring place? It really matters a lot to me. I thought rotterdam is a just a few minutes away.
  9. Hey deep I am also facing a similar situation. I have got an admit in Georgia Tech and TU Delft , but not sure about the job scene in Netherlands. I do have to fund my own education in Delft but the cost is not that high (20 lac Rs for two years including living expenses). Let me know if you get some idea about how it works after graduation in the EU. Thanks!
  10. So I have finally got all my results and have been admitted to TU Delft MSc in Integrated Product Design and Master of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech. I am trying to weigh the pros and cons, and my personal inclination is towards TU Delft, but would like to have someone else's inputs as well . TU Delft - Europe in general is good for design, especially this course - Way cheaper; the entire cost for 2 years is $40,000 including tuition, living expenses - I m interested in automotive design and they seem to have nice courses lined out with an automotive specialisation - Dont know anybody who has gone to the Netherlands, not sure how the scene is for foreigners - No information about getting a job Georgia Tech - College is highly rated, but the Industrial Design Program is not amongst the top ten - They have asked me to take one year of undergrad classes, since my background is in Mechanical Engineering, dont think i want to spend an extra year for masters - Expensive, $40,000 for a year, which makes $120,000 for three years; have not even heard from anyone about an assistantship - Georgia Tech brand name ?? If anybody has any information on these colleges, please let me know. I need to decide this week. Thanks! 0
