  1. Hello, So I am looking into MA programs in Philosophy. It seems that a lot of school require to have some related background either/both in academic and work experiences. Unfortunately my bachelor's degree is in retail merchandising and I worked about 4~ 5 years in Finance. Though Philosophy/Ethics has been my passion since... very young, I could not think of actually doing a degree in it. But after all these years, now I would really like to pursue my dream and would love to work in Ethics field. There are some school that doesn't require such background but candidates with related background are surely preferred. Do any of you believe that I have a chance to be admitted? I am applying for schools mostly in EU. And if there's anyone that has been in similar situation with mine, how did you work your way out while writing your SOP, Letter of Intents and so forth..? Help me please! :(
  2. Please help, everyone..! So I am looking into MA programs at many schools in the States and Europe(in Applied Ethics, Ethics, Philosophy). As I was searching for these programs, I noticed that you can earn Master's degree in a year at some schools while others take 2~3 years. For example, https://liu.se/en/education/program/f7met?utm_source=srs&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Applied%2bEthics%2bat%2bLink%25c3%25b6ping%2bUniversity%252c%2bSweden https://www.mcmp.philosophie.uni-muenchen.de/students/ma/index.html If you look at these two school, the one in Sweden has credit load that is only a half of the one in Germany. I understand that they are two different major but if I were to pursue my education and applied for doctoral program or further in Ethics, both of these MA degree should be sufficient and relative enough, right? If then, how is the one in Germany take twice time than the one in Sweden, Netherlands... and other countries? I am worried that after finishing my Master's, I would find out that my MA degree is not sufficient to apply for doctoral program or something. Would the schools in the States accept these degrees? If anyone knows anything about it, please comment. Thank you!

    Ethics?

Hello, I've been researching on Master's in Ethics. Well there simply aren't many colleges that offer degrees on Ethics. If they do, it's in conjunction with Theology or something. Please recommend some places for me if any of you happen to know some. Also, do most colleges require for you to have bachelor's degree in the same(or close enough) subject? I found some colleges in Germany and Netherlands but that was the qualification for the admission - Sadly, I am not Philosophy or Ethics major ;(
  4. Hi, I am little bit confused here. please help me out. If my interest of study/field contains keywords like 'Animal law', 'Animal rights theory' (through scope of utilitarianism or Kantian ethics and so on...) what would be my choice of program? I thought that it would be very close to bioethics but it seems like bioethics covers, in regard of animals, subjects as animal use in medical research. This is a bit more specific and narrow than what I have in my mind. Ecology? Philosophy? Ethics? Which is it? Meanwhile, it doesn't seem like there are many programs that specifically deals with applied ethics only. There are some programs in Scotland specifically dealing with animal welfare but I don't know if I could move to Scotland for a long long study. I am non-US citizen and away - I attended and graduated from junior high and college in the US.
