  1. There a lot of schools I knocked off of my list because I saw people were getting rejected with GPAs of 3.8, but I guess I wasn’t really thinking about their volunteering and experiences. Good luck at Northeastern, that is amazing! I know it sounds a little silly, but at this point, I wasn’t even looking at the schools credentials because I was just desperate to get in.
  2. Thank you so much for the encouragement and reply!
  3. I know that this forum has probably seen a lot of these ‘lower GPA posts’, and I have searched for them, but I am looking for some more recent information and opinions from those who have been in my place. Right now, I am a senior in college with a 3.38 GPA. At the end of this current semester, I should be at a 3.44, and with winter semester, a 3.5-ish. Are there any grad schools that will take GPAs this low? I have not taken the GRE yet, I have registered for next week and will update the thread with my scores once I get them. For experiences/etc: I am an undergraduate research assistant and am presenting research in October, a member of NSSHLA, a member of MSHA, I volunteer at a hospital, I volunteer at an elementary school, I work 40 hours a week (night shifts) as a caregiver for a spinal cord injury patient, I used to work as a phlebotomist and have 1.5 years of experience there. I have shadowed one SLP and plan to shadow one more before graduation. I am stuck and I have a list of schools to apply to (this is a huge list but I am going to cut down my list to 10 -ish schools. The list contains: St. Louis University, U of South Carolina, Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Andrews University, Adelphi University, Radford University, Central Michigan University, Northern Arizona University, Faulkner, Harding, Calvin University, Aibilene University, Saint Xavier, University of Tennessee, George Washington Univerisity. What schools should I add? What schools will deny me and I should take off? Thank you guys for any input or experience, I dont know what I would do without this awesome forum.
  4. I think my major GPA is close to the same to my actual GPA (around a 3.4), since a lot of the classes that lowered it were in my major (like A&P, stats, etc.) I am hoping that these experiences help to boost my GPA a little bit, because working so much has been the reason my gpa has suffered. I am just afraid that i will apply to graduate and not get in anywhere and then not have any way to boost my GPA at all.
  5. I definitely think that my fall and winter courses could raise my GPA! At the end of fall semester, I should have a 3.45, but do these courses go towards applications? I know that a lot of apps are due Jan 15th, and the final grades aren’t out until December 17th. I dont know if this is enough time to add towards applications. I have some experience volunteering at an elementary school as well as a hospital. I am presenting some linguistics research in October, I am an undergraduate research assistant, I work 40 hours a week (nighttime shifts) caring for a spinal cord injury patient and was previously a phlebotomist. I have not taken the GRE (I was dealing with personal issues in the summer and decided to take it September 11th to be in a good headspace. i have been looking up newer, less ‘competitive’ schools to apply to and am applying to at least 10 in order to boost my chances. Including fall AND winter classes, I think I could get my GPA to a 3.5 or 3.6 but unsure if these classes will appear on applications due January. PS. This may be a dumb question but what is a major GPA? How do I figure that out?
  6. Hey all! I am currently a senior and am about to apply to grad schools in January. I am stuck. I have an overall GPA of 3.4. Do I delay my graduation to boost my GPA and retake classes? Can I even get in anywhere this cycle with a GPA this low? HELP.
