  1. Hi, I really want to pivot into economics but I'm worried I don't meet the entry requirements for any good programs. I went to a top IR school and took the following courses: Micro I, Macro I, Calc I, Stat I, and Int'l Econ. These don't seem to meet the minimum requirements for any of the programs I've looked at. I did notice that McGill offers a "Qualifying Year" for those that don't have the economics/quant background, which is awesome. Does anyone know of other programs like this that offer a transition year/semester?
  2. What research institute? And can your colleague expand on how competitive it is?
  3. Anyone know of well regarded programs that allow for this? Both in and out of the US. I studied International Affairs during undergrad and took intro to micro, intro to macro, and international econ. But that's about it. I know many econ masters are hard to get into if you don't have an econ background, so I was wondering if anyone here has made that transition successfully.
  4. I can't find anything online about how competitive this particular program is. I thought it would be fairly competitive (but not as competitive as a top 10 economics program). However, their website (https://graduateinstitute.ch/academic-departments/international-economics) says they admit 20 candidates a year. Isn't that insanely low? Assuming they get ~500 applications (I made this number up, but it sounds fair), the admission rate would be lower than those of top 10 econ programs worldwide.
