Hello! There aren't many external resources to help those applying to the ndseg- especially those in biology who may not have any peers applying (like me)- so I wrote a blog post with some advice that I hope will be helpful to those applying. It has general tips applicable to all fellowships and then also specific tips relevant to the ndseg only. what's going on w/ the data sheet? looks like a bunch of data was deleted

Another reason this is likely a troll- in past years they don't email you that you've been rejected, instead they email you to check the portal and it tells you which level you made it to. Unless they changed it but that's how they did it last year.

Looks like on the data sheet 4 plp had 4/13 updates. Mine still says 4/7 as well. Maybe it will update later though, last time my 4/7 update took longer than others.

If you highlight this post you can see this text was in white font. We are definitely being trolled. Super not appreciated. How bored do you have to be to troll worried grad students?

Are we being trolled? Mine still says under evaluation. Why would they release statuses at different times?

How? It looks like 4/7 update was for 25% of people or so.

I filled out all of the boxes except for patents, don't have any of those lol. I typed "N/A" in each box but when I saved it, it kept disappearing so I called and they said to not worry about it.

mine has always been yellow. the last update is in red though.

It does also look like almost all of the only Feb updates received other fellowships too. Obviously, the fellowship goals are different but I think this still reflects applicant merit. But, still doesn't make sense why if not selected in February the application would be updated 3 more times?

Dang, a lot of (you) won other fellowships- congrats! This is a competitive bunch.

It may be good to have a column that says whether we are phd student, masters or undergrad

mine also just changed from 4/6-->4/7 definitely seeming more random now

totally agree that the dates could be arbitrary. But, I had logged into last week and checked and it stayed 2/28 for a few days. Also, interesting that others are observing the same pattern of 2/28, 4/3, 4/6. But I do agree that likely the 4/3 --> 4/6 update didn't mean much advancement wise but again all speculation

I would be surprised if you weren't competitive as well. These things are often a crapshoot and I know of many scientists who were denied and went on to do great things (check twitter: lots of convos about this mostly in regard to nsf but also ndseg), so we all shouldn't be too disappointed if we don't get it, there is still hope for us to be profs or work in industry etc! (Mostly trying to remind myself).
