Nope I emailed the Stanford EE admissions and they said an interview isn't required for admission. And it seems there are fewer reports of Stanford interviews on gradcafe compared to other years. So hopefully not getting an interview doesn't mean a total reject.
Congrats on your acceptances! That's awesome
Just got an invitation for a skype interview!
Does anyone know how far in advance to schedule interviews? I'd love to have the weekend to prepare and do it next week, but I'm not sure if that's waiting too long ?
Haha yep I know. I'm pretty happy working where I am currently, so I only targeted my dream schools for this round of apps. Hope I get into at least one lol
Almost everywhere (at least where I applied) said they begin to review the applications in early January, so I don't think there's need for concern yet.
I didn't see a thread for this year's electrical engineering applicants, so I figured I'd start one
Places where I applied: UC Berkeley EECS, Princeton EE, Cornell EE, MIT EECS, Yale EE, Stanford EE (all PhD)
Hopefully we can share when and what we hear back. I know apps were just due a little while ago, but I'm already stressing out haha
Good luck everyone!
I applied to 6 schools. I'd say 3 of them were "reaches" in that my stats are fair for the programs but the acceptance rates are so low that it's impossible to predict.
2 more were solidly in my range, and the last one is my safety (prestigious name but I have a personal hook there).
I think it's important to envision yourself actually attending the school, rather than just applying to have the choice of going there. I made this mistake when applying to undergrad - I applied to 20 schools, a significant number of which I didn't actually want to go to.
Anyway, this is just one data point for you. Hope you get into your dream school this time :)
Same thing here - my recommender submitted my letter the morning after the deadline for Berkeley.\
Like DRMF said, the best course of action would be to contact the admissions admin informing them of the late letter.
I've also heard of situations of strong app who were shortlisted but missing a LOR. The admissions committee contacted them asking them to provide the missing letter.
Hi, I was wondering if anyone would take a look at my statement of purpose for EE PhD programs.
I can take a look at yours as well in return.
Thanks so much for your help!
Hey everyone,
I realize this is a bit late in the game, but I was wondering if anyone could review my statement of purpose for my electrical engineering PhD application.
I'm interested in computer architecture/networking fields.
Of course I can review others' SOP in return
Hope to hear from you all. Thanks!
