I got offers from Virginia tech and Micigan state univ. I think vt focuses on very applied aspect and msu focuses on prob theory. Their funding offers are very similar also. Can you give me any advice about environment, department, job placement and anything else for me? I would be really appreciated it.
Hi, can I ask you whether you are international or domestic? and when did you get the offer from VT? I applied to VT too.

Usually middle ranking university offers 2nd round offer? I wonder turnover rate(?). It will be different year by year, but I wonder general trend.

I was rejected from UF this morning. I'm actually very curious of how all admission works. My profile got me into several top 10 programs but not good enough to get me into UF, Minnesotta, Michigan which are ranked much inferiorly? I have very good interests match with UF faculties. This makes me wonder.
did you apply statistics phd for top10 too? not biostatistics?
I have not heard anything back yet from UF. each school looks like they have a little bit different criteria.

Nope. I emailed them about 10 days ago, they said "The admissions committee is currently reviewing applications. We do not have a specific time frame as to when decisions will be made but if anything else is needed the committee will contact you directly."
That's it. But on people's signature on this post I saw some declined offer from UF.
Thanks!

Congratulations! I also received a phone call from one professor today. It was unexpected so I could not express all of my interest. Did you receive the offer right after the interview?
thanks! yeah, right after interview, the professor said that I will get an offer and assistantship!

Yes, I think your MS school is good enough to apply for schools in the 30-50 range. I might suggest adding a few more schools in the range of UF (e.g. FSU, UConn) and Mizzou (e.g. UC Rirverside, Kansas State) to be safe.
thank you so much! I will add more school following your suggestion!
