hey everyone! Has anyone applied for a financial appeal at Columbia University? if so, how long did it take for you guys to hear back? I did this week and it says 4 weeks however I have learned things can take shorter or longer than stated. so I was just wondering! Thanks!

Did you apply for advance standing? I had to wait too because of the field evaluation. I noticed with USC Suzanne-Dworak and Denver University that I got my decisions really fast (like 1-2 weeks) and I wondered if that was because it was advanced standing. Or it could of been that the programs start a little earlier. I hope thats the case with Columbia too but this program does start a little early but still before Fall

I got that email too and I had submitted earlier in February. Maybe they were waiting until after the deadline? I dont really know.

Hey all! I just got my email from Columbia that my application is now complete and under review. For people that have already got their decision, how long after they got that notification, did it take to get your decision? Im just curious! Thank you!

Hey! I actually decided to switch to the on campus program because of this. From my understanding, you can apply to more scholarships and the on campus has been more straightforward. The online admissions counselor has given me false information and when I hinted at switching programs, she called me back on a recorded line? it was all very strange. I also found out that the online program is run by a private company which is separate from the campus program.... I have received a lot of contradictory information so if not all of this is correct, i am sorry! but this is all that i have gathered!

hey all. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back from Columbia when applying for the advanced standing program? I think I have noticed that it takes less time when it is the advanced standing program, but not fully sure. Thanks and congrats everyone!

Mine still just has my application that I can print. Are you doing the on campus program? I am online - I know they have different portals so I wonder if that is the difference.

I must of not got a letter? I just got a call from the admissions counselor saying a was accepting, a email from her directing me to the student portal and a email to sign my enrollment package.... but letter pertaining any information about financial aid/scholarships.

When did you hear about your scholarship amount from Denver?

I definitely am trying to be. I keep calling and trying to get more information. Last week USC said I would hear back in a week then I get a call from the admissions counselor and she said I wouldn't hear anything until after I enroll. So I called financial Aid and they said I dont have to be enrolled but would hear back in April. I get such contradictory information.

Did you receive any Financial Aid information? I was told I wouldn't be told until after I enroll and even then maybe not until April. It makes me nervous!

Hi Everyone! I got accepted into USC Suzanne-Dowark and University of Denver (still waiting on Columbia). A lot of my decision is based on Financial Aid-- However both USC and Denver are saying that I wont get my package until after I enroll in their program. Are you guys hearing the same things? USC also said that they do not give grants. I am starting to freak out over the cost! I don't understand how you figure out what school you want to choose when you dont know how much the cost will be- It definitely is a factor!

Hey! Did anyone see if Columbia has a GPA requirement for per class for advance standing? I couldn't find one but others do.. so I wanted to make sure!

Hi! I am so glad there is this thread! I am applying to advance standing programs as I am finishing up my BSW degree this spring. I am applying for these programs: USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck - submitted1/3/20 University of Denver- submitted 1/4/20 Columbia University - will submit by 2/15/20 Since I am applying for advance standing I have to do a field instructor evaluation for Columbia and I don't start my field placement until January 14. I asked if I could supplement a different recommendation to get my application in sooner however they want the field evaluation. So I have to wait until the last minute. I worry the late application will hurt my chances! I have a 4.07 GPA in my BSW program, and a 3.86 cumulative for my whole undergrad. I have 2.5 years of volunteer experience. I also have about 3.5 years of work experience in non-profit/SW field. I feel like the essays were the hardest part. However, I wasn't planning to apply to grad schools and life changed at the last minute so I did all my essays for the three schools in 1.5 weeks. My brain is dead! Is anyone else applying for these schools while still in their BSW program and applying for advance standing? What do you guys think my chances are? I already want to know their decision!
