  1. Well BU finally got around to rejecting me. Also, I turned down an FSU offer if any strategy applicants are wait listed there
  2. Congrats!! That is excellent news! Sorry friend, USC Marshall was not one of the schools I applied to therefore I cannot help with this.
  3. I applied to 9 and have heard from 6 so far. I assume the other 3 probably are not going to contact me at this point because I heard/read that BU already accepted applicants and that was one of the schools I have not heard from. I just assume they are not planning to let me know. (I am a Strategy applicant not OB)
  4. Hope you hear good news soon! If it makes you feel any better, one of the professors told me that "no news is good news" because it means they haven't rejected you yet and you are probably still being considered (or alternatively they haven't even gone through all the applications yet)
  5. I had a program tell me that basically because the first two years are just coursework, if students wanted to leave after that because academia wasn't for them (or they failed comps) the school would just give them a master's instead and they could move on with their lives. I've also heard though that some schools don't take transfer students and therefore you would have to start the whole thing over again in which case it might be better to just finish the last few years and start researching whatever you want when you get hired at a school after finishing. If its that big of a gap in quality though it could be worth it I suppose. Especially because you could apply and if you don't get in again just stick with your current program and they never have to know. If you did burn bridges, it would be unfortunate, but at least you would have a brand new set of connections at the institution you really wanted to go to.
  6. That's fair! I sincerely hope you hear from some of them soon! I think the waiting in ambiguity is the hardest part
  7. Damn that sucks, sorry to hear that!! It definitely may not be because you are not qualified. Interesting Reddit post from an Adcom member here: https://www.reddit.com/r/gradadmissions/comments/ayzqqj/i_was_the_chair_of_the_admissions_committee_heres/ I think that the most important thing is a good research fit with the faculty. You might be able to demonstrate that you fit really well if you do a research based master's degree with a thesis on that subject and a publication would certainly be beneficial if possible (this can be harder in some disciplines than in others). As an added benefit, you would probably be able to net another solid letter of recommendation from this as well. Then again, a Master's program is no small commitment of time. If I may ask, are you planning to not accept offers from the other institutions that you applied to or are you just preparing for the worst case scenario?
  8. Congratulations!! We are all very proud of you for getting in!
  9. Here is a link to the April 15th Resolution by the Council of Graduate Schools. https://cgsnet.org/april-15-resolution In general from what I have heard, schools have a very limited number of funded positions so they accept their favorite candidates first and then a few of those applicants likely reject the offer and the institution moves on to the students on the wait list like Jash was saying. However, it is kind of considered in really poor taste for these high level applicants to hold on to the acceptances any longer than necessary. IF someone is accepted at their 5th school and then hears back from the 4th as well and both have April 15th deadlines then the applicant is supposed to decline the offer from number 5. It helps both the school who can then move on and hopefully still get a pretty solid candidate as well as the wait listed students that are waiting to hear back. If the candidate waits all the way till April 14th though, there is not really enough time to do this.
  10. For what its worth, it seems like most of the strategy and macro applicants in this thread haven't heard anything while the OB programs have been a little bit faster. Therefore, if they are two separate departments at the schools you applied to, there is still a strong possibility the notifications are not out yet. (I don't have any schools in common with you so that is mere speculation)
  11. Hey, welcome! Strategic management representative here too and I also have not heard from any schools yet. 20 is a lot, that must have been easily like two thousand dollars in application fees!
  12. Congratulations! That should at least ease anxiety a little. I have heard that sometimes schools will make offers with deadlines like that to try and catch applicants before they accept something else, but I suppose you can wait and see if you hear back from the other schools. You might also be able to call and ask them for an extension of the decision if the deadline gets near, though I do not know if they would, but it couldn't hurt to try.
  13. Hopefully you did better than you feel like you did!! When will you hear back? Though I have to say I think "Will you come if we accept you?" is a really loaded question to be quite honest.
  14. Thank you for your support, there is a lot of anxiety around here (for me at least), but we all want to grow up to be like you. If you don't mind me asking, do you have any specific tips about interviews in this discipline? Most of the guides and podcasts seem to be for hard sciences like chemistry which I understand are a bit different. Hope everything is going well in your program so far!
