As far as I can tell, I’m the only person on here who has received an acceptance for UAlberta’s SCCP MEd program.  I believe my deadline to accept was March 9, so I suspect the school may send out a second round of offers after that date.

Does that mean they will see how many applicants will accept the offer on the first round before they send the second round? She's assuming she's waitlisted if she didn't get rejected on the first round ?

Victoria itself was great, but the living situation was rough.  I stayed in the uni townhouse residences and quite frankly they were a dive.  They are in dire need of a renovation.  I had two other roommates who I shared the unit with, and one was great and the other was not.  I guess the people who lived in the unit prior to us pulled a knob off of the stove and then put it back on in the wrong place, so when our stove was "off" it was still running, so that was interesting.  As well, one of the girls had takeout food in the one of the two fridges when I arrived.  When I left two months later, the takeout was still in her fridge. ? Also, the couches in the living room had so many stains that I was afraid to sit on them.  If I had to do it again, I would've lived off campus.  However, I've heard the living situation is tough in Victoria as my classmates mentioned that it's difficult to find a place to rent.  I found being away from my friends and family was very difficult, and I missed having a bath tub as there was only a shower in our residence, but I think everyone copes with those factors differently.

Omg I'm so sorry that sounds like a horrible experience. I was getting ahead of myself and started looking at housing options and I will definitely try to avoid the uni townhouse residence if I do get into the program. Thank you for the heads up and sharing :)

I was considering applying to that program at one point, but I decided against it as it didn't seem like the best fit given my personal and professional goals.  From what I recall, I think their application deadlines was in early 2020, so I suspect you might have to wait a few more weeks before hearing anything.  I know more about UVic's counselling program though because one summer, when I was still strangling considering counselling psychology, I lived in Victoria and did the prerequisite courses for their counselling program.

The application deadline was feb 1st so you're probably right, I might not hear from them till March! On another note, how did you like living in Victoria?

I’ll be releasing offers for  U of A counselling (thesis) And Trinity Western Counselling this evening or tomorrow as I’ve decided to attend somewhere else. DM me if you would like POIs. I hope this frees up a spot for someone on the waitlist  ?

I didn't apply to counselling but I appreciate you doing this for everyone else! Also congratulations for getting in to your top choice! :)

Got an email at 3:57 p.m. to check my grad portal for UAlberta.  Please confirm I'm not dreaming!?!  I got accepted into UAlberta's SCCP MEd program!!!!!  I'm SO happy!  I've been working toward this goal for a long time.  This is the happiest day of my life!!!!!  Though, just last night I realized I had an error in my statement of intent.  I somehow said I wanted to work and live in the field of SCCP; I had a good laugh over it.  I do think, to some extent, academics "live" in their fields anyways.  I think I will tour the UAlberta campus before accepting just to really, really make sure that's where I want to be (especially because I'm either going to have rent or sell my house in Calgary now), but I plan to release my UCalgary MSc SACP offer in a week or two.

Omg congratulations! UofA is a great school! Hopefully my friend will receive the same news as you! GO CELEBRATE!! :)

Mine in still under review too.  I was (and I guess still am) curious because based on the results page some people started to hear back in February in previous years, so I’m still ??!

When I spoke with the grad secretary about admission stats during my application process, they said last year the program took around 7/100 applicants, so I’m hopeful, but struggling with trying not to get my hopes up too much.  I’m sure many others can relate to that last sentiment.

Yeah the sccp program is very competitive but don't worry it's still very early! Hearing nothing from them is actually good it means your application is strong :)

I received a second email from a POI/prospective supervisor at UCalgary regarding the MSc in School & Applied Child Psyc.  The email stated I’d be receiving a letter in the mail from their grad program in the next few weeks.  Hopefully I’ll also hear back soon with good news from the other schools I applied to.?

Congrats! do you mind sharing the POI initials?
