Well its been an interesting week already, as my 1 application has been converted to 1 interview and 1 acceptance. This has been a long journey from when I had first considered doing a PhD ~5 years ago back when I started my MBA, and I hadn’t expected such a quick decision! They had hinted I was on the short list during the interview which surprised me a little, but I had put a lot of effort into indicating their program was a my priority. Now I wonder if I should have applied broader to a couple stretch schools, ugh. Anyone here get admitted (or at least get an interview) with GMAT scores fairly well below (say 50 pts or so) the program’s advertised averages? For instance, my score was in the mid 600s, and the stretch school I didn’t bother even applying to has advertised averages of ~700-720, and my score was 30-40 pts below what the admissions rep had deemed as “competitive”.
