  1. Alright, gang. I'm sending in my signed offer letter tomorrow, so I'll be logging off of here for a good while. Best of luck to all! If you got in somewhere, congrats. If not, don't lost heart. I went 0-8 last year and tried again, this time netting a great offer. Some people try three years or more in a row. It really is a crapshoot—don't take it personally!
  2. Disclaimer: I don't know anything about music tech. My two cents: Follow the money. It's not wise to take on inordinate debt for any kind of music program, music tech included. There are only a few kinds of professional degree in which high debt may not be a problem, such as law school or medical school, where you know you'll be making that $$$ right after you finish. Clearly, we're in a different situation. If you have a great financial deal at a great program—one that sounds better than the other two already—then this sounds like a no-brainer to me. I'm of course assuming that money is a consideration for you. If not, then know yourself out I guess, haha.
  3. Congrats! For anyone else who's waiting on Wesleyan, a prof. told me today that they're aiming to send out decision by mid next week. Let's hope that's the case.
  4. I applied to CUNY last year—a professor there told me that the DMA and PhD application processes and programs are virtually the same, so much so that they were considering nixing the DMA altogether and just having a PhD. So I would assume that admissions timelines for the two are also virtually the same.
  5. Understood, thanks for letting me know! Yeah I'm certainly not counting on it haha. We'll see.
  6. Well, here we are at the beginning of another week, waiting once more... Has anyone heard from Wesleyan? That's basically the only school I'm still waiting to hear from that's relevant to my decision-making. Last year they let me know of my rejection on 3/11, but just curious if anyone's heard anything as of now. I know there was at least one other person here who applied there.
  7. Thank you! This time around I do have one great offer on the table and am waiting from several other schools. Definitely don't give up if you don't get in anywhere your first time around (I did not). Unfortunately I can't really answer your question because I didn't try to get feedback. I was so burnt out from the process that I just wanted to get back to making music again. I did get feedback from some peers and former professors, though.
  8. Not to be a downer, but last year I applied to Brown and did not get my rejection until March 20...just thought you might want to know. Don't be too much on the edge of your seat, as it could be a while longer until decisions go out.
  9. Rats...
  10. Have you checked your spam/trash folders? Sometimes important emails end up there for me...which also drives me bonkers. I've learned to check those daily.
  11. Sweet! I applied to the school last year and they got back to me (with a rejection) in mid-March. So we got a ways to go. I have no idea what the timeline is for acceptances.
  12. Hello gang, composer checking in here. Applying to master's programs at: Yale, Stony Brook, Wesleyan, Montclair State, Tufts, and Brooklyn College. Have only heard back from Yale, a rejection. Looking forward to waiting with you all!
  13. Well, just got my rejection from Brown. That's 0-8 for my schools...it's been real, y'all! Good luck to you all. Maybe I'll be back next year after I reevaluate. Considering applying to funded/cheap Master's program rather than trying again for doctorate. Peace ✌️
  14. Thanks! Though it's a bit far for me...trying to stay in the Northeast/Midwest for family.
  15. There's a non-zero chance that the delay has to do with the COVID-19 madness. Nearly all of those schools are in badly hit states. Still waiting on Brown on my end. Good luck and stay healthy!
