And Mcgill's deadline to accept is also early April. Nice.
-
Anyone else getting properly pissed at toronto? It's the end of march now. How much longer is it going to take
-
Very very sorry for your loss ?
-
Got into McGill. Received an email. No funding info
-
Same. Plus it's not easy when english isn't your first language Like yeah i have a 164 gre verbal but it takes time to process thoughts and translate them. Anyway. Onwards and upwards
-
I got extra pissed at the second email. Like okay i get it no need to rub it in my face
-
I have a deferred offer from Rutgers as a backup. They gave me full tuition last year. Need McGill and Toronto to send out decisions soon so that I can make plans
-
Rejected by UBC. Slightly pissed ngl. Is ubc a better school than Cornell or Rutgers? Because I got in to both. Don't mind me, i'm just salty. Congrats to everyone who got in. Hope you guys do great!!
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Scarp. Toronto. McGill. Just put me out of my misery
-
Makes me think UofT has rejected me
-
How long ago was morning for you lol?
-
So according to this the person got an email on the 18th. That would be today. Just turned 12 where I am, that is the 19th, so i suppose we could be getting emails in a few hours
-
Really? Haven't seen anything
-
Am I the only one getting more than a bit annoyed at UBC, McGill, and Toronto's slow speed? Almost as if we don't have other plans to make, other things to do, a mental weight to shed? Especially for international students with a volatile exchange rate and visas to contend with?
-
Don't think we'll be updated via acorn. Also. What does 'invited' mean?
-
You're not alone friend. Almost all of us had the same anxiety and I had my fair share of ummm and uhhhh moments. I knew this would happen and made good notes before hand just to get my mind rolling but blanked out a lot. I don't know if this helped but don't fret and pretend you're talking to a friend. It's slightly easier to do if you don't look directly at the camera but that defeats the purpose. Maybe call a friend and put your phone on the side and pretend you're talking to them? That might help. Otherwise I think they know that we're not very articulate during these interviews.

I hated mine as well. A lot of panicking, awkward pauses, and rambling. Had the signature "wtf should i tell them about myself" moment.
-
That's what I think as well but last year I took one for Cornell (which turned out to be a joke) and they literally just gave you 60 seconds to record a response and my slow butt took 30 seconds to think of what to say. Still got in tho but I think UBC is more serious about this
-
You seem to have given it much more thought than I have lol. I'm an international student coming from a very econ/development background so the whole field is pretty new to me, but 'development' is also how I'm approaching it. I'm mostly interested in how planning fits in with the larger development process (lol). Toronto's program seem good but the cost is pretty prohibitive. That's why i'm hoping for a yes from McGill. I applied to a few unis last time around but deferred because of corona (didn't want to do online; let's see what happens this year)

Any word from toronto yet? Also. People who applied to UBC, McGill, and Toronto: how do you rank the three? Anxiously waiting for word from McGill. Also. Any tips for the SCARP interview?

Planning Admissions 2020

Final tally: in at Cornell, UIUC,and Rutgers. Out at MIT (sorta expected). Cornell has refused to give anything beyond the 16k. UIUC's offer is pretty good and yet to hear from Rutgers on financial aid. Initially, I wasn't committed to graduate school fully and was open to delaying another year. But now that i've gotten in to three pretty great schools, I'm now in the mood to go. Since I'm an international student, costs are very very important (our currency depreciated by 50% over two years against the usd) and career wise i'm not looking at planning the way it exists in the US, but more like how it fits in with public policy and the development sector. I know the respective strengths of each of the three schools but looking for perspectives from others on the reputations. Even though Rutgers is ranked number 3 on planetizen, the Ivys have a global reputation that is difficult to ignore. Should i delay another year and try for GSD or MIT again? Or do Rutgers and UIUC punch above their weight? -

Work stress and this stress aren't gelling together well. I just need to know if either of Rutgers or MIT are going to give me a better offer, otherwise I'm off to uiuc. -
