Here's my guess...they were anticipating a large number of people that were already admitted to decide not to come once they announced that they would be online, so they planned for this summer round to fill those gaps. The summer application was due on July 13. But the decision from those already admitted for next year to tell Harvard whether they were coming or not online was July 15. I think more people decided to stay with the program than perhaps they thought would. I'm sure HGSE's decision not to offer deferments also played into that. Thus ending up with a much smaller amount of slots than perhaps they thought they would have when they decided to move online. Just my thinking on it

It's possible that their projected yield rate for admitted students who enroll has been thrown off by the pandemic. If prospective students are unsure what the next year brings for both health and markets, are they as likely to take out student loans to pay for grad school? If HKS thinks not, they may be making adjustments in the final days to ensure they still hit their desired entering class sizes. They could, for example, be expanding the waitlist.

    I agree with you.

  4. At first I just want to know and also don’t want to know the result. kind of contradictory... Admission Anticipation and worry about rejection...But after this anxiety torture, I would like to know the result immediately.... At least I have Sipa-epm and Cornell MPA offer...Harvard just do me a favor ok...omg what am I talking about...
