I got into only one program but at the visiting day I was told by the current graduate students that I should absolutely try and negotiate for more money. It is a very small humanities program, but from talking to the other admitted students it sounds like a few of them got slightly more funding than me. Those same students were also unsure if they would attend the program.
Given that those students with better offers than me might not actually accept this program's offer, should I just ask for more money? I didn't think it was even worth trying unless I had competing offers, but I'm wondering if it is worth a shot despite that.
