  1. Same. I'm disappointed but not surprised. I'm going to do a BSW and reapply in the future. I need to do it online though, so I have some research to do. It's probably too late to apply for Fall 2020 for that at many places. Are you looking to do it online as well?
  2. For those waiting to hear from Laurier's PT fall 2020 MSW (non BSW) program - I am hoping that this week is the week we'll hear. Last week was the fall advanced standing, so I think we're the last group. Last Wednesday they reported whether they got in or not, so I'm hoping today or tomorrow Laurier will start emailing us.
  3. @golden10 I have not received anything but I suspect I’ll get rejected based on my background and experience, esp in comparison to so many ppl here. Maybe it’s all alphabetical, my last name is M, so I expect it soon. My back up plan is a BSW, which will have to be ok. I won’t wait and keep reapplying to this MSW because of my age, education, time avail - I need to get working toward this so can get a job in the field. I’ll consider the MSW later, once I’m working. I think.
  4. Sorry to hear that. That sounds so frustrating! I probably wouldn't have changed my statement much either if it had been successful in a previous application. I hope they can give you better advice on how to prepare and what to do differently.
  5. Sorry to hear about these rejections! Damn. I suspect the PT online fall ones are next. I don't have advice on their comment to submit a thorough admissions package, but I'd contact them for clarification for sure.
  6. Laurier MSW Online Fall 2020 people. Has anyone heard any updates on this program yet? I have not, but thought maybe I'm just not accepted. I'm seriously on here multiple times a day and checking LORIS to see if there's any movement for anyone. I've heard nothing. I was hoping they'd start early May, not mid or late May. I'm trying to be patient, and what choice is there, but it's so hard!
  7. This is interesting - thank you so much. My main goal is to be a social worker and work with children and families with the provincial government in BC. So, I think the Yorkville program wouldn't be exactly what I'm looking for. Even if it could get me into a social worker position; I do want the credential and to be registered at least at the provincial level, and perhaps federal. It's too bad they don't offer Social Work as well.
  8. I'm not working as a social worker, so I don't really understand the main differences. Could you still get a social worker job with the counselling masters from there? It is pricy. But maybe beats not getting into programs over and over, despite being qualified (just how competitive they are). I also wonder, with this credential, could you still be registered with CASW or SW provincial registrations?
  9. Would the counselling masters translate to social worker type work, do you think? I would also consider if I don't get in. I'm mature, I've done other degrees and masters. As much as I want to be a social worker, I don't want to spend the next 3 years in the applying stage. I was accepted into an BSW program that would take 2 years to complete (since I have a degree and masters). Right now it's my back-up plan, but also Yorkville could be a plan. I think with the MSW credential, I'd be able to find work before graduation, unlike if I was doing a BSW. Rambling rambling...hope we hear some new soon!!
  10. Has anyone heard back from Laurier's online Fall PT MSW 2020 program? I know it's early May...hoping they start letting people know soon. Hoping for some kind of update!
  11. Haha, me too! Fingers crossed! I don't think I have enough recent experience, but I'm still hopeful. I hope we start to see some movement soon on the online MSW program!
  12. Hi everyone waiting for the Laurier online program. I actually had to contact Laurier with a question, and they did also confirm that results would be posted in May. I'm not sure if they've ever been early before, but they are still using the May date...at least it's not late? Good luck! (I applied to the PT online MSW)
  13. I'm still impatiently waiting too. The website did say May but I'm hoping any day we'll start to hear about the online program.
  14. Waitlisted for the Fall MSW nonBSW online program?
  15. I'm in the same boat. Have you heard back? It's the only program I applied to for MSW.
  16. I'm not sure if I'm in the right place to post, I'm new here. Has anyone heard back from Laurier's non-BSW MSW online program? On the website it says to wait unit May, but I'm wondering if anyone has heard back earlier. I only applied to this one program, since I need it to be online. I don't think I'm in a position to be competitive enough for it, but thought I'd try anyway. Otherwise, I am planning to complete another Bachelors but in Social Work, which I can do in about 1.5 to 2 years. Not ideal since I have a BA and an MA already. This wait is killing me. (okay, I've posted this in 2 other places, but I think this is the right place now)
