For those who have been accepted off U of T's waitlist, I am just wondering if you are completing your undergrad and graduating this year (i.e., heard back before submitting winter term grades), or have graduated in a previous year before this one?

Graduated in 2019, therefore all my grades were in at the time the application was due.

I would've thought they hated people badgering them constantly! I was thinking about sending an email asking If angela would be willing to talk to me over the phone about where I can improve on my application (i'm on the waitlist right now) What advice would you give regarding advocating for yourself? I don't want to be constantly emailing and bothering them but dang i want to get in haha.

I would've thought the same thing. But I emailed Angela highlighting some of the specific things I've done since being waitlisted last year (like retaking courses, employment history), and asked for advice around putting together a more competitive application for next year. I highlighted my continued interest in the program, and she referred me to Terry Gardiner to speak further about the questions I had. Apparently he's the person to speak to if you are looking for more specific advice, especially if you're considering applying again.

I definitely wouldn't go overboard with emailing them, but continued correspondence over the next few weeks couldn't hurt!

Anymore movement from the UofT 2 Year MSW waitlist?

FIFSW is accepting people off the waitlist on an ongoing basis. The best advice I got from an alumni of the program is to keep in touch with Angela and Terry Gardiner over at the Faculty. Tell them about your application and advocate for yourself so that they know you, and know you're interested. There will be movement on the list as people accept, defer or decline their offers, it will help if you're persistent and in constant communication.

For those of you who have been offered a spot off the waitlist for U of T's 2 year MSW, did Angela just say to let her know ASAP or were you given a date to let her know by? Thanks!!

I received a "time sensitive" email confirming my interest in a spot that had just opened up, after which Angela uploaded the decision document. The decision document that was uploaded onto the SGS portal however allows for 4 weeks to accept or decline. Hope that helps!

Can I ask what your experience and GPA was? Congratulations btw :)!

My cGPA was abysmal sitting somewhere around 3.0, but my final year was around 3.7. I did my undergrad in Cognitive Science and Sociology at UofT and worked in a few student support roles during those years. After graduating I have been working at a homeless shelter here in Toronto.

Did anyone else hear from Angela today regarding a spot off the waitlist for the 2-year MSW at U of T?

I heard back about a spot off the waitlist over a week ago, April 24th.
