Hello colleagues, I hope you are all well. I’ve been doing some research in the agencies and am afraid wfp probably have been one of the few not to utilize their pool even for short term gigs. many of us are going to a year + in the Pool with no single invite to express interest. It’s amazing that they would spend all that money to recruit and fail to utilize us even in the very least. It’s not all gloom, please look out for other agencies and continue to apply especially for the TA roles which are easier to come by. The struggle continues. Uhuru

Sounds like they will be in touch shortly. Congrats! as you have seen with all of us, there is need for a lot of patience as the responses take time. And will even take longer once you are in the pool. Keep us posted once they connect final steps.

Yes, the date changed on 25/3/2021 though the status hasn’t changed yet and still reads congratulations you’ve passed through.... We hope the first to receive any invitations to be interviewed will share the good news as it’s coming to a year for some in this pool.

Hi Guys, great to hear that we are starting to see some sort of traction. I for one got tired of the silence and got a short term contract with FAO. At least am now inside the UN agencies with a UN passport and can see what happens if they call us. Haven’t decided yet when to update fitpool on the change of my status. I guess I will wait a little longer.

Good to hear from you Federil. What i have seen across the UN agencies this last year is the increase in temporary roles instead of fixed term maybe as a result of covid challenges and budget constraints. I believe they are relying more on such contracts which we fixed termers are ineligible for. I do not have confidence that the situation will change later in 2021 and i am now advocating for others to take up temporary roles instead and once inside you can navigate your way.

Hi, That's a bit a while almost 3 months and no news. However, they would send you a form to complete the code of conduct if successful and thereafter a reference google form. Let's wish you the best

That's interesting. I thought that was a give too. But i guess they have to establish whether you still have the stamina to handle another year of wait. Good luck

Hello Members, A luta continua! Just checking in if any of us in the FIT pool has commenced work since the last intake in August 2020? I wonder what the absorption rate is for the pool as I believe it should be less than 30%. Since I was added in August, i havent received any proposed role which is a tad disappointing. I am considering a temporary role in UNOPS which should be able to keep me going and at least enter the system - I may not inform HQ Fit Pool about the change in circumstances either Would be great to hear some experiences.....good day!

@LeaoAzul Yes am in the Pool, on average it takes 1-2 months after panel interview as they have to do reference checks. Mine took 3 months but i realized the contact person had gone on leave and i suppose the turnaround was delayed

Still waiting for an invitation to apply to any openings, none so far. I've started to apply to other agencies in the meantime as we wait.

That's true. You get a message that you have passed through to the interview stage, assessment is the stage before...in some cases motivational and language tests are sent at the same time hence that msg. Give it a month or so after completing Language and Motivational then you will know whether you've made it to the final stage

That's a standard procedure - they will even complete conflict of interest - they will only contact referees much later if you are successful - that will be the tell-tell sign that you are joining the pool

Certainly, every time the status changes its a positive sign. You start preparations for panel

In fairness its now week beyond 9 months - we began in January when the HR advert was put out. I guess they might be counting from the time they longlist you. Also, the delays partly maybe attributable to the language tests for some of us - as well as how quick your referees respond. The harder part might be when in the Fit Pool and no opportunity is coming along like some of our friends have opined on here.

@MDA have WFP contacted you or anyone since we completed the interviews? I haven't heard from anyone since the @Ivette and @FITPOOL2020co got the good news in early August. My referees got contacted more than a month ago - its now ten months since we began this journey

Hi, I believe that is covered in the 14 previous pages on here. Take a read. Otherwise its about 14/15 questions a minute each testing your everyday knowledge - what you like doing, work, family, scenarios - make a call and change a booking etc

Hi Pattytoupatta, Any more news on your side, have they invited you guys to apply for any jobs going?

Hi Cheval, indeed the two key things to look at is the status and date - if date changed and your status remained the same then chances might not be as positive

Hahaha looks like our wait will be a little longer let's buckle up
