It depends on the program, which one was it? I've heard back in as little of as a week, but if they have multiple rounds of interviews sometimes they take longer. I know Columbia told us they were going to wait until they finished both interview weekends before starting to send out invites, which was about 3 weeks after I interviewed with them.
It was Berkeley Biophysics...they only have one visit. I've just been incredibly antsy from the moment I got back

Does anyone have a general idea of the timescale for hearing back after interviews? I got home from one last Thursday and I'm already freaking out

Difficult to say. With the increase in number of applications this year, we've invited 30 more people than last year (for a total of 90 people) to interview. However, the target class size (typically around 25) is unlikely to increase. I would predict ~60 admission spots?
Wow, so does this mean that essentially everyone who interviewed last year at TETRAD was offered a spot?

In case you get the information, could you pass on what department at Berkeley are you interviewing at? I'm also nervous about Cal...

For the "where else did you apply?" question -- I only applied to one school. Is this horrible and should I spend tons of time justifying my answer or is this OK? You'd think it's the ultimate sign of "interest"

How about "casual" (specifically for girls, but guys are welcome to weigh in as well! )? I'm hesitant to show up in jeans and a t-shirt, but I don't want to be the prissy over-dressed one either...
Thanks!

Im sorry UC Berkeley MCB? For the ones that are ongoing, are they waiting to decide for the second or third tier applicant pools?
Ahh, from what I heard, MCB sent out their invites before Christmas, I'm sorry But I didn't apply to that department, so maybe someone else has more definitive answers there! For the ones that are ongoing, I think they wait to see how many people respond by some set deadline that they give the first batch sent out to see if they can afford to invite more.

Just got rejected through email from the University of Washington- Genome Science. Is this program as competitive as Stanford Bioscience, UCSF tetrad, Scripps, USC PibS, UC Berkeley, Vanderbilt, UC Irvine, UC Davis MCB, Baylor School of Medicine, and UCLA Access? If so, then I would assume I will be rejected from these schools because it's already Jan. 17 and I have not heard from them yet. What do you think?
What program at Berkeley? Some sent out all invites already but some are still ongoing. Too bad about UW

Congrats on all the interviews, dhm! May I ask what departments at Berkeley and UCSF you heard back from?

One of the labs I'm interested is an acronym and is capitalized a bit unusually (only a few letters are lowercase) and in my SOP, I capitalized it incorrectly. I can't believe it -- I read the website 100x, checked over my SOP 100x...and now it looks like I just carelessly skimmed both

Whoa...I noticed someone got an interview from Berkeley MCB! I thought Berkeley didn't really send anything out till January...has anyone else heard (from MCB or other bio-ish Berkeley departments)?

My score report is unavailable! Today might be the day for third-batchers!

I think Zea meant that his/her school list is up, not his/her scores
Ohh, yeah, that makes more sense. Jeez, I am so on edge.
-
Not sure what that means. Mine showed up today. I took mine on 10/28 and shouldn't have my scores until Dec 1st. I'd be super excited to get them sooner than that.
Yours are up online? Mine still are "absent or not available" and I took them 10/5! aaaaah

I took biology, and I thought it was harder than any of the practice tests...and way more focused on plant bio/ecology/evolution

How long does it generally take to go from a department recommending you for admission to the official letter from the grad division? I feel like my acceptance is an "acceptance" till this happens...my paranoia never ends...
