  1. I have about one day to decide between these two programs and would appreciate any input! Hopkins CMM (Cellular and Molecular Medicine) in the school of medicine Hopkins CMDB (Cellular, Molecular, Developmental Biology and Biophysics) with an NIH partnership. So basically I would move to Baltimore for a year and complete the academic portion of my PhD (take classes, TA, etc.) and then move back to NIH and join a lab there to complete my research project. My research interests are broad. The most important factor for me is that I'm able to do translational research. I have no idea what I want to do after but am slightly learning towards industry.
  2. Hi everyone, I have about one day to decide between these two programs and would appreciate any input you have: Johns Hopkins CMDB (Cellular, Molecular, Developmental Biology and Biophysics) - NIH Graduate Partnership Program. https://www.training.nih.gov/programs/gpp/InstitutionalPartnerships - For this program I would move to Baltimore for a year and complete the academic portion of my PhD (take classes, TA, etc.) and then move back to NIH and join a lab there to complete my research project. I could potentially join any lab in any institute. Since NIH is not a degree granting institution, my degree would be from the Hopkins CMDB program which is in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. Johns Hopkins CMM (Cellular and Molecular Medicine). https://cmm.jhmi.edu/ - This program is in the Hopkins School of Medicine. They emphasize bench-to-bedside research. You must have an MD on your thesis committee and they give students the opportunity to take more medical classes like human anatomy labs. About half of their students stay in academia and half go into industry. They also offer many networking and internship opportunities with biotech companies. My research interests are broad (immunology, neuroscience, and cancer to name a few..). The most important factor for me is that I'm able to do translational research. I have no idea what I want to do after but am learning towards industry.
  3. When did you hear back from CMM about the waitlist? I'm still waiting to hear back.
  4. They said they will be calling accepted applicants this week and next week. They also emphasized that some students will be waitlisted because they have a strict cap of 22 students per cohort that they can't go over because of funding, so they have to admit on a rolling basis. (i.e. they can't just send out 40 acceptances at once and hope to end up with exactly 22 students. They have to be more strategic about it). Personally, I have not heard back yet. Hope this helps! Good luck!
  5. Wait, is that bad? I specifically requested the last weekend so that I would have more time to prepare... kind of regretting that now...
  6. They are still sending them out! I figured I was out of the running too but then I received an interview invite
  7. Did anyone apply to the NIH-GPP programs and hear back? I applied to the Hopkins CMDB and Georgetown Biochem programs and haven't heard anything yet.
  8. @ManifoldsAreMadeUp I was already contacted my another (smaller) institution saying that the transcripts I uploaded were not sufficient and I would need to send official copies. I'm worried that with the amount of applications Harvard gets, they're just going to automatically discard any apps that aren't properly complete.
  9. @ManifoldsAreMadeUp That's what I thought, but I double checked their application requirements and they clearly state that you are required to upload downloaded or scanned copies of your OFFICIAL transcripts for a complete application. So now I'm freaking out a bit.
  10. I applied to the Harvard BBS program and attached my unofficial transcripts instead of my official transcripts. Is my application toast? What do you think I should do?
