That's amazing! I have a doubt though.. Ain't UofWaterloo in Canada? How come u are an international applicant?

Yes the school is in Canada but I am an international student, not sure if they treat me differently from people who did their undergrad outside of Canada tho. Maybe it takes longer for schools to verify degrees completed in other countries?

    Best luck with your applications!!

Wow, probably you're the first international applicant (in this forum) to get a response so far.. Would u mind sharing the details, which course and ur stats?

I applied to McGill's MscPH(non-thesis), UBC's OEH, Western's MPH, and Toronto's MPP. I did my undergrad at the University of Waterloo, CGPA3.9, last two years GPA 4.0. I only have four months working experience in a  health corporation, but I think my manager's recommendation letter helped a lot.

Congrats on western!!! When did you hear from them? And what is your first choice?

I heard from them this afternoon through email. I am in between McGill's MscPH and Toronto's MPP!

Got accepted in UBC MPH yesterday!

I told myself come to leave a message in this thread if I got an offer... Waiting was such a torture but checking this thread made me feel I had company...

Still waiting for other schools, but I think I will accept UBC anyway.

As of now, has any international student received any admission response yet? In any universities? For MPH?

Hi, I am an international student and did my undergrad in Canada. I received an offer from McGill yesterday. I thought they would send out offers for international students first considering it would take a long time to apply/renew a study visa during covid but it seems not like the case ..

Wow congrats!! Did they tell you by what date you have to decide if you're attending or not?

Yes they did! The email states that I will receive the final decision within the next few weeks and I have to decide before March 29th.

Thank you! when did you submit your application?

Has your status changed to complete yet? I applied to two programs and both are still showing incomplete. All of my documents and references were submitted on time.

Anyone know when Queens and Westerns MPH offers are sent out?

Western let me know that my application was passed to the program through email in mid Feb, but I haven't heard from them ever since.

  10. Has anyone heard from McGill's Public Heath(Non-Thesis)? I emailed them last week and they said they will send out decisions by the end of this week, yet today is Friday...

    Hello,

I would say that if you get your supervisors from your community health educator assistant and/or marketing assistant jobs to give you references, and complement that with one more from someone who knows you well in a professional or academic capacity (doesn't necessarily have to be in public health) you'll be just fine. Your grades are excellent but I would really focus on whatever experience you have in your letter of intent and just let the transcripts do the talking for you with regards to your GPA.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for the tips, I really appreciate it! ❤️

You don't necessarily need extensive research experience to have a competitive application if you make up for it with other qualifications.
For example, I happened to have very little in the way of experience in the field of public health but I have an M.Sc. so I made up for it with a bunch of research experience.

    Hope this helps!

    Hey there,

I am an international student with Canadian undergrad in Environmental studies. My cumulative GPA is 3.9 out of 4(GPA 4.0 out of the last 10 units), but I have very limited work experience(4 months volunteering experience as community health educator assistant and 4 months work experience as marketing assistant in a healthcare corporation). I also have taken two statistic courses and both scored over 90. I am planning to apply for McMaster, Waterloo, UBC, Queen and Western's public health.

I am really worried since I do not have a lot of valuable work or research experience, and the professors who are willing to write reference letters for me do not know me very well, I was just wondering if you know weather schools value recommendation letters a lot?

    Thank you!

  13. Hi,

I am an international student with Canadian undergrad in Environmental studies. My current GPA is 3.9 out of 4 but I do not have any working experience. I am planning to apply for public health in McMaster, Waterloo, UBC and Western. I also have taken two statistic courses and both scored over 90. I am really worried since I do not have valuable work or research experience. Do I get a chance in any of the school I mentioned above?

I would really appreciate tips from people who accepted in previous years. Thank you!

  14. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I just thought i would give it a try.. I am an international student from university of Waterloo in Environment and Business(Honors degree) with Econ as minor. I'm in my 3B term with an overall average of 88 and I am interested in Mcmaster's globalization and economic policy(master's program) or Waterloo's global governance. I heard they are very selective when it comes to international students so I was just wondering if I get any chance? I would really appreciate if any international students can share their experience with me.
