  1. I recently graduated with a BS in Biology. Many places I got advice from put emphasis on experience when it comes to careers IN wildlife biology (I'm interested in ethology and conservation) because of how competitive they can be. I have some related experience on my resume, but it's only a few (a couple research and lab experiences). My idea was to gain more experience through jobs, volunteer, or possibly internships before pursuing grad school, but my parents are "suggesting" I attend grad school and get my degree ASAP (they want me to attend by January) so I can get a better job faster. I wanted to take a gap year to work (the idea was work my regular job while also working or volunteering to gain experience), save (which I have been doing), and move out but they also offered to pay for my degree. I know there are ways to attend grad school for free or even get paid to go, but I don't know how much I can bet on that being an option (I was told it's fairly common in passing, but I've been looking up confirmation). By taking a gap year am I just wasting my time or would it be better in the long-run to get some more experience before grad school? I feel like I might need this gap year, but I could be making excuses.
