  1. I have always wanted to be a Social Worker. I have a BA in psychology and sociology (Interdisciplinary Social Science) from Stony Brook University, NY. My average is a 3.0. I graduated over 20 years ago, and I am concerned with letters of reference. I am still somewhat in touch with one professor, however, many of the others have died. Locally, there is only one MSW program that is under an hour away. I will apply to that one, but since mt GPA is not stellar, I am looking at online options as well. I am somewhat concerned with age discrimination. Does that exist in MSW graduate programs? I do not care if the school is prestigious or not. I care that it is CSWE accredited and has a user-friendly online learning format. I really want to avoid for profit universities if at all possible. I'd like an online program that is supportive and encouraging towards students who are somewhat older than average. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Why did you choose Social Work? I am looking into all three. I guess it's evident that my goal is to be a clinical social worker. Which profession's programs, caters more to mature, returning students? I'd prefer a program that meets one or two days per week - not including field work. I live in North Eastern OH close to the PA boarder. This is a lifelong goal. I am an empty nester, so I finally have time for myself. I'd prefer a class room delivery system but I am open to an online program. I do not want to have over 60K in debt, and that is on the high side. I looked into Simmons and I think it came to $100,000. Same with Case Western Reserve and Columbia. Those are too costly. Any advice will be gladly accepted. Thank you.
