  1. Last year they released earlier.
  2. I chose Chicago over Harvard. Did you ever decide?
  3. I decided on UChicago. I am originally from Wisconsin, so moving closer to home will be nice.
  4. What do they consider active participation? I'll have to work while in school. I dont know how much time I'd have to participate. Do you just mean hanging with your roommate for meals and stuff or are there group activities as well?
  5. Where are you leaning towards or have you made a decision yet?
  6. Thanks for this information. Do you know if current students will be increased? I am considering HDS and the $$$ is a major factor, I realize this announcement is no guarantee that I would get any next year. Just curious.
  7. Congrats on your decision! Good luck!! I don't see much issue with asking why you were rejected, however I imagine you won't find out much. I think letting your recs know where you go is nice and you can thank them at the same time. However, are you undecided and wanting to run it by them? Or undecided and just wondering if you should thank them since it's all over?
  8. Congrats to everyone that got in at YDS. I did not get in so now it is between VDS, Duke, and HDS. Checked out housing in Boston, woah- way worse that Nashville. A studio in Boston is 2x the rent of my 2 bed, rather large, apartment right now. I live in a higher priced area of my town as well.
  9. Thanks all. Really, I feel underqualified when I have read others stats. I don't know why they accepted me. Good luck to everyone still waiting on YDS!
  10. I got into HDS. Fin aid information will be up within 24 hours. We wont both be students, so I wonder if they'd still allow us. I'll look into it.
  11. HDS released. I got in. It says they'll release Fin aid info within 24 hours.
  12. I'd imagine that living with a partner wouldnt work for these options mentioned in the forum. I'm in a similar situation. I think we'll just have to contend with Nashville's absurd market on our own if I choose vds. Looked at the site for disciples house and dont think that'd work either. Let me know if you find anything else that might work.
  13. When did you hear from Harvard? EDIT: I realized you got in last year, my bad. I thought you were saying decisions were released for this year. Do you have any idea when they will be released, lol?
  14. The ones I attended were at night. I was lucky because they were after I got off work, I think for one I skipped a shift and picked up an extra later so I wouldn't miss the session or lose the money. They realize people have other obligations, I think it just provides an opportunity to add to your app. Put a face to a name and all that. Did you attend any of Duke's online sessions or any other schools?
  15. I think my biggest concern if I hadn't interacted at all would be that it shows a lack of interest. I am also a full time student and work like all the time and I managed to attend webinar session for aads. I interacted with the admissions reps they had representing them. Also, they had a lot of options and availability. But they probably don't look into it to much. I will say I think my interactions aided my application, I felt good about them. They had some specific degree sessions, like for the MAR. I attended that one. Right now, if I get in HDS or YDS it will impact my choice, but all these cities are so expensive to live in, lol, Nashville is prob just as expensive as boston and new haven.
  16. If you spoke with the dean of admissions, she had a schedule and you could request a meeting- she was real nice, or if you attended an online information session they observed your behavior, interaction with them and other possible applicants, questions you asked, etc and also if you ever call their office they note how the interaction went. So, if you call and are rude/frustrated with admissions staff, that's not good.
  17. MTS, 80% scholarship. I dont know about loans. I see both sides. Depends on where I get in, funds, etc. I'll sacrifice more for certain schools. I am waiting on external aid sources. That'll have a major impact on my decision at this point.
  18. Well, vds was exciting news and a reprieve from worrying about other schools, albeit brief. I need to know about HDS and YDS. VDS offered more funding than Duke, but less than Candler, I have a few things to figure out with external aid sources at VDS. If external aid pans out like I expect it'd be hard to refuse VDS, but Duke has its pros. So, basically I am still in between everything.
  19. That's funny and nerve wracking that they forgot to include it. You shouldn't feel bad for calling, you need to know.
  20. So, it doesn't have any numbers or anything? Does it have conditions listed to keep your scholarship? Mine does. Like gpa and remaining full time enrollment.
  21. That's weird mine is very clear. It says "In addition, you have been awarded a Merit Scholarship, which is awarded on the basis of academic excellence and vocational promise. This merit award covers x% of your tuition costs and is valued at approximately $xxxxx over the duration of your degree. I replaced the numbers with x's. The summer stuff you mentioned is quoted further down. Also, now that I am reading it "duration of your degree" sounds like if you take summer courses and use scholarship it drains from this source not an additional one.
  22. I got an email to check the portal. I have one letter. It says % of tuition. So, I don't think it includes housing. The number they list is what it is valued at over the degree program all years combined. The estimated fees page separates tuition and housing as well. What I don't understand is is the summer scholarship, if one chooses to use, deducted from the rest? Or is there additional option to apply for summer scholarship funds.
  23. I got in as well with a nice scholarship. The scholarship details are in my second paragraph. It mentions the summer information a little further down on my letter. The wording is a little different. I can't tell if the valued amount of my scholarship includes summer or not.
  24. Anyone know if schools ever release decisions on weekends? I imagine they don't.
  25. The lack of aid and being located in the most expensive city is why I didn't apply, lol.
