I am in exactly the same boat. POI sent an email saying that faculty will meet at some point this week to finalize at least a handful of candidates in some fields of study. Hopefully we'll hear back soon!
Went ahead an emailed the graduate coordinator who in turn sent me this response.
"You should hear something very soon, hopefully today, about this!"
Don't know whether this is hopeful or ominous. we'll see I guess.
Hey there, I also have an interview (African/Middle Eastern History). Reached out to a former student who said it's less a formality and more an opportunity for FOI to gauge how serious/good of a fit a particular candidate is. No word on the ratio of interviews to acceptances tho.
Quick question, how recent might that interview have been and did they say which language/field they work in?
Any takers? I've applied to:
Yale Religion (Islamic Studies)
Duke Religion (Islamic Studies)
NYU MEIS
Harvard CMES
Exeter AIS (Accepted)
SOAS (Islamic Law)
... and a spattering of History and Anthro MA programs.
Does anyone have any insights on timelines/interviews?
Hello everyone, I thought I would get a thread going for us applicants since I don't see one already. This is for students and hopefuls applying to Doctoral programs in Islamic Studies, Near Eastern Languages (NELC) and Middle Eastern Studies (MES) for the fall of 2022. I will update briefly with where I am applying and I'd love to hear from you as well.
