Has anyone who interviewed at Loyola Chicago's PhD program heard anything yet? I know they said they aren't sending out offers until they know about funding, and it seems like funders this year are slow to answer...but it's been about a month and I'm just anxious!

Hi, just an update from my earlier response, I was officially waitlisted today. Really hoping I get moved up, this is my #1! ??

Nope, I haven’t heard yet either. I check multiple times a day! ? I’m waiting to decide on another offer until I hear from them!

I am EdS for both Loyola and UW-Milwaukee. The current students from Loyola said they heard back around 2 weeks after the interview day last year (which would be today). Milwaukee told me that I should expect to hear back about interviews in early February..

Who were you hoping to work with at Loyola?

Ah got it! It might be different timelines for you then.

At Loyola I’m hoping for either PF or KE

If anyone has any insight on how long it typically takes to hear back after an interview that would be much appreciated!!

    Are you EdS or PhD?

At my interview with Loyola (PhD) they said they wouldn’t get back to us until end of Feb/beginning of March.

Milwaukee (PhD) sent me a follow up email today thanking me for interviewing and inviting me to an open house/orientation ... I don’t know if that means I’m accepted or not or if it’s more of a phase 2, since we didn’t get to talk with students at the interview. I think they are doing rescheduled interviews this week as well.

    edit for spelling/grammar :)

Hi everyone! I applied to the following Ed.S. programs:

UT Austin, UF. FSU, UW seattle, Northeastern, Ohio State, and UW- Madison. So far, I've received interview invitations to UT, FSU, UF and Northeastern and am still waiting to hear back from UW- Madison. Has anyone heard anything from UW-Madison Ed.S. program? Also, if anyone is going to any of the other interviews and wants to chat that would be great!

I think Madison sent out their interview invites already. ? There were EdS candidates at my interview on Thursday.

I actually got my first rejection this week too! It was certainly a let down. But it was not my top choice and I had a bad feeling about this one component of my application for that school...so I have to say I was not too surprised. However, I am a little concerned that it may be hard to get an acceptance somewhere! Also, worried that some of my schools that I haven't heard anything from could be rejections, too! We will see.

Just curious do most of you have strong Psychology backgrounds? I lean way more heavily towards education experience since I have my MA in Education and have been teaching for the past 5 years. Hopefully it turns out okay even without much of a psych background.

I also have a teaching background- I have a BA & MA in Special Education. I was also feeling a little nervous without a psych background so I did do a post bac psych program intended for non-psych majors trying for clinical PhD programs so I figured that was close enough to be able to fill in some of my coursework gaps. Hopefully they think the same lol

I’m getting a little worried because two of the schools I applied to have not received my GRE scores yet and the deadline just passed (Jan. 1). I put in the order for the scores to be sent about 2 weeks ago. How long does it normally take for schools to receive the scores? Should I be worried about this?

According to the ETS site, it takes 15 days if you sent them initially and 5 business if you ordered separate score reports after you received your results. I found it took longer than 5 days for mine, and things might have been further delayed with the holidays, covid staffing, etc.

What I did was reach out to the programs directly and explained the situation. I also included a screenshot of the order confirmation showing I had sent the scores well in advance and included an unofficial score report for good measure. They thanked me for reaching out. No idea of it helped me or hurt me or not because they haven’t sent out interview invites yet.

When people say they were emailed by their PI for interviews is it because they had already been in contact with their PI before or is it something that happens even if you hadn't contacted them and you indicated them on your application?

ALSO my PI told me interview invites ~usually~ are sent early december for interviews in january. do you think that they are going to move interviews to later since invites are likely going to come later as well?

I’ve also heard that some app review committees are taking their time this cycle, since the interviews are going to be online they don’t need to worry about giving advanced notice since airfare/lodging won’t be an issue. Which is totally fine with me, I just wish they could all say not to expect an invite until later then so I can stop refreshing my email! :)

Definitely losing my mind, probably mostly because I’m an online middle school math teacher trying to survive until Christmas break but also because I’m dying to hear back. This means a lot to me because I applied to school psych programs 2 years ago straight out of undergrad and got interview and waitlisted for University of Florida PHD and never got an interview for Ohio State Ed.s. Now I am graduating with my masters degree from the University of Georgia. This time around I am applying to the University of Florida, University of Georgia, and University of Utah, all PHD programs. Getting one acceptance letter from anywhere will mean the world to me! UF is my number one though.
I haven’t heard anything except confirmation from UF they have all my letters of rec and an email to my UGA email with my POI Cc’d(also the program director so idk if that’s significant)  (even though I used my personal gmail on my application) inviting me to an information session (that I unfortunately could not attend because of work). I wish everyone the best of luck! I’m wondering if any interviews will be virtual because of COVID... part of me wants a vacation to Georgia & Utah, the other part of me doesn’t want to pay for flights (I live in FL)

Hang in there, from a fellow middle school teacher! We will get through this!

I originally had Loyola University Chicago on my list and they had the same issue.

I emailed the POIs I was interested in and if they said they were taking students I applied there.

I also applied to Maryland and Boston and know they have funding for students. Not sure about the other schools.

Loyola isn’t taking ANY students this cycle? I heard it was going to be less but not that they wouldn’t take any

Congrats! Was the invite from that faculty member or from the department as a whole?

My invite was from her, but she’s also co-director of the program so I’m not sure if she’s sending it to all applicants in that capacity or if she sent mine because I identified her as my POI on my application.
