  1. I am more specifically interested in what the consumer and popular culture from that time reveal about the larger changes within the 19th century. I am not very interested in pursuing an American Studies PhD. I am a part of TFA in Nola.
  2. I am currently searching for strong programs for 19th century US history from a cultural and social perspective. The following schools are the ones that I wish to apply to: -UC Berkeley (primarily for Henkin) -UPenn (primarily for McCurry, but also Peiss and Brown) -Penn State (primarily for Greenberg) -Wisconsin-Madison (Johnson; unsure about this one??) -Michigan (Cook, McClellan) -Indiana (Sandweiss, Dierks, Spang (culture in France)) Any other recommendations? Thank you!
