  1. I think they've JUST emailed people. I just received an email, a few seconds ago :S
  2. Well well well UCSB's sending out letters- I got rejected ?
  3. If you haven't received any updates yet, just send them this week
  4. I've read somewhere in the previous forums that its good ol' professionalism, as you would with any other job interview (although mind you, I'm guilty...). I didn't know either until I read the post!
  5. Eek I hope so. And yes, I've sent them a thank you letter right after the interview and will email the grad app coordinator, just to clarify if this affects the process at all. It just all happens in a blur!
  6. Oxford + Interdisc/Painting
  7. Currently processing one of my MFA interviews and am so confused and a little bit disappointed. If anyone can add insight, I'd greatly appreciate it. I had 3 panelists who asked me about the first piece of my artwork, which I dutifully replied. I had previously shared a private portfolio link with a list of my art. Unfortunately, when I started to explain, the panelists seemed quite confused and unsure of which artwork I was talking about, and one of them asked for the link to be resent. Then, they also proceeded to ask about a different mural I did (on the homepage of my website/not included in my portfolio), which is completely unrelated to my portfolio. I should have stopped them right then and there to ask if they had the correct link, but felt like a deer in the headlights and just kind of went with it. Anyone have this kind of mishap? Or is it totally normal?
  8. Sure - I submitted my around the last week of December. It wasn't my top choice, so I'm not too weighted down by this result
  9. ? we'll power through this
  10. Just received a letter of rejection from CMU. I think they'll notify folks today or throughout this week.
  11. Just finished my first interview. Finished a 15 min interview with the Ruskin School of Art (Oxford). Shooketh. It went by super fast to the point I don't think I articulated myself clearly
  12. Please! That would be soooo appreciated. I’ve applied to 3 UCs, and their application fees are pretty crazy compared to other grad schools.
  13. Wow, the anticipation for February seems to keep on building and building. I know my anxiety is at an all time high Haven't heard back from any of the UC schools but I've applied for Oxford's MFA program, and have an interview next week ? and I am quite nervous. Any tips on how to prepare for an MFA interview?
  14. This is very helpful Thank you! Seems like academics + arts advisors are in order. I also consulted my former art advisor and he had similar opinions!
  15. Quick question to those who come from non-traditional backgrounds: who will you ask for your letter of recommendation? I'm asking my work supervisor/director, my old college Art prof advisor, and was considering one of my History or English profs who I have a good relationship with still. I've heard that its helpful to have people in the Arts, but I come from a varied background in int'l development. IF anyone can offer advice, that would be gold.
  16. To be frank, I was looking at MFA programs in illustration, which is suited to the work I am doing- unfortunately it looks like there's not a lot or are available at AI schools, which I can't afford ?. I'm hoping to transition my digital work into the fine arts. I'm trying to steer clear of graphic design because I am currently working as a graphic designer + book designer and I'm not great at handling client-based work. I'm sure it can be just as creative, but working under NGOs and companies, it's not the creative outlet I'm passionate about.
  17. Hello - it's that time of the year - gRaD apPlication season.. I feel like I'm applying quite late but better to dip my toes in than never. Not sure if 2021 is the best year, but I'd like to try. Schools that I'm applying to (focuses in printmaking and/or painting): - University of Oregon - University of Michigan - UC San Diego - Oxford Ruskin Art School - UCLA - UC Irvine - University of South Florida - University of Notre Dame I'm leaning towards a lot of UC schools because I'm highly interested in researching East Asian diasporic/immigrant communities for my art as well as the activism. I'm applying to Oregon - but it seems like they're well known for print making? I'd like to get your opinions Feel free to check out my art as well. I primarily do digital art. https://donapark.com/ https://www.instagram.com/itsadona/
