Ellepsis

Hello all, I've been looking at people's CVs to kind of compare myself to the current grad students, and have a question for all the humanities grads out there. What does it mean to "referee" a conference? I see this on students' CVs who are fairly young, and they've done it like 30 times, so I'm wondering if it actually means presenting at a conference or what. How do you get invited to do this? Any info about this would be great. Thanks, E
