Thank you all for your advice/help! I was thinking it would be unethical, but I just wanted to check in with others to see if you had heard anything different.

And yes, I'm pretty sure you can get offers after April 15th if people wait till the last few days to decline. The specific school I am hoping to go to states on their website that final admission decisions are often not settled until the end of April.

Thanks, and good luck to everyone!

  2. Hey everyone! I have a random question and am wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation and could offer some clarification/guidance.

I was accepted to one program that I liked but waitlisted at my top program. I checked with the program director and I am still on the waitlist. I am wondering if I accept the offer I received, and then I am later accepted off the waitlist at my top school (after the April 15th deadline), is it unethical to back out on the acceptance? Of course, I am not sure if this would even happen, but I am just wondering if anyone has heard anything from mentors/current students about this as I am sure a lot of people will receive offers after April 15th.

Has anyone heard back from the University of Northern Colorado graduate school?  I got an acceptance email from the school psychology department on March 14: ... we are recommending to the graduate school that you be admitted starting in the Fall of 2021.  You should soon be receiving an acceptance note from the graduate school which should include ...

I haven't actually received anything from the graduate school and my application status is still being "reviewed". I'm a little bit worried that I might not actually have gotten in!  Is there usually a long wait time between the department recommendation and graduate school acceptance?  Would love to hear from anyone who got into UNCO if they've heard back from the graduate school!

So, I didn't apply to UNCO. But, I received an acceptance letter from a program director at a different school saying something similar and then it took over a month for me to receive my official acceptance from the graduate school. I think it's pretty common for there to be a delay between the program admitting you and the graduate school officially accepting you.

I haven't heard anything either. I have been obsessively checking the interview invite list, and no one posted about it on there either. I'm really hoping they are just slower this year or something

Also, sorry to quote you again, but where is the interview invite list posted?

I emailed one of the professors to ask where they were in the review process and she said they would be sending invites in the next few days! So I don't think anyone has heard yet. I was nervous too because their website says they will reach out in the first two weeks of January so I guess they were just a bit delayed.

Lol, whose heart just dropped when a faculty from UNC mentioned they go through completed applications each week and have already sent out invites to people whom they liked. That's brutal.

Same! I am so confused why we were invited to the tour if we weren’t being considered for interviews.

For anyone going to UNC's virtual visit tomorrow, how, if at all, are you preparing? I'm not sure if we will have many chances to talk with faculty or if it's more of just an information session. I got the itinerary they emailed today and saw that there are program breakout sessions but I'm not sure what these entail.

I think there will be a student panel so I was going to prepare a few questions for students/faculty just in case there is time for questions.

(New here, hope I'm doing this right) Hey there! I'm also still waiting to hear back from UNC. The only email I've gotten from them was about their prospective doctoral student "virtual visit" happening next week. IIRC, the general deadline for UNC school psych apps is early February, so maybe that's why we haven't heard much from them yet?

Hi! Thanks so much for your response! I also received the invite for the virtual visit. That is true that their final deadline isn't until February 9th, so that could be why! I am wondering if they will interview people who met the priority deadline first. Thanks again!!
