i kind of already put up my goodbye forum post but i lowkey missed yall so i came back. all this troll bullshit and their absolute hatred and targeted attacks at certain people is shitty. it's despicable, and if i knew enough about computers i would say block their ip address or something. to conclude, fuck what they say. yall are glorious people. this forum has been lovely. i may be thinking about writing a poem out of all the bullshit that has been spewed into this forum, and someday when i am bored enough, i will. until then, who wants to come be sad about brown R's with me (even though I knew it wasn't the place for me, getting an ivy rejection hurt)

anyone have any update on UVA? assuming that iowa and brown are rejections, i'm about damn ready to end this app season one way or another and this would be my last school. big sad about iowa, also since i'm a part of one of their other writing programs and have interacted with IWW students and lowkey love the vibes of iowa as well as the people. but we are moving on. just emailed deb west to email me a copy of my decision whenever available because i'm an intl student and simply do not have the patience to wait months. unless UVA comes through, i will be ending this season on the waitlist. now that i think about it, how i was hoping to get into iww at 20 is beyond me. or, as my co-star says for March, "there's a difference between aspirational and impossible" and that this is the month i must learn that. but it's all good. i'm gonna teach for a couple years, meet some people, write more, get my shit together and do some growing up. this was only my first time applying, and i will not be giving up. going to get into one of these programs if that's the last thing i do. ❤️ ALSO! massive congratulations to accepted folks on here, all the best of luck to those waitlisted, and my heart is with all those who were rejected. love to everyone on here. could not have done it without this forum.

this is only based on my somewhat informed guesstimation, but it seems to me that their portal is limited in function. last week, they could only send out a few rejections and waitlists, so tbh it could very well be that your portal is one of the few that got left out this time and will be updated next friday. my impatient ass is not going to expect you to or tell you to wait until next friday in hopes of a portal update lol. you could just email alissa for the letter. i'm sure they can send a pdf through.

i'm not either and i'm feeling like i should be lmao. but it's 2.37am where i'm at and seeing how little i've slept this past week, i'm definitely buzzing

i've seen around 3 poetry acceptances across draft and twitter, so i have solid reason (read: hope) to believe more are due. the 1st two were fellowships, and as @nottheamazonalexa mentioned, the third one was TA. not sure if the week ends today or includes the weekend, but yeah...

non fiction is not a part of iowa writers workshop. its a whole other program that notified much before iww, hence the rejection notif.

i would literally be so happy if i got to be classmates with someone from here!!!!!! literally anywhere, yall better dm me and each other if by the end of the season we end up together!!!

unfortunately, no intel on that front. fiction seems to be painfully quiet at nd aaa good luck to yall!!

one of my friends (fellow intl student for poetry) has emailed them as well, i'm gonna wait to see what they reply to confirm confirm too haha. will update yall!

just gonna clarify on a small technicality: they called last week, and got this info. i was having a bit of a panic so i confirmed today (the wording seemed a bit confusing). either way, seems to be that this week is going to be a big one with iowa. ❤️

also got my syracuse rejection just now. i sent a kind reply and terri actually replied and wished me luck. never met her but even over email, she seems kind. the og email, however, with its "dear mfa applicant", was not as kind. in any case, gotta cry and listen to liability by lorde on repeat brb.

the two most prominent offers i saw on draft were fully funded ones. going off that, chances are they're making fully funded offers first. it's wayyy too early in the game for this to be an automatic rejection, i think. hang in there! also, if you wish, you can check the results page from previous years to see if acceptances/rejections go out on the same day or just how spread out they are.

this is THE. VIBE. INDEED!!! i'm young and have NOTHING to lose. not a penny to my name and i owe nobody. trying to make some foolish choices before the inevitable, dreaded "settling" into a career.

do yall also have schools that you're weirdly attached to and like it would REALLY hurt to get rejected from? im AFRAID for my HEART. i mean, they're all excellent programs but my attraction to some of them is like entirely unfounded and has very little basis in objective information lol it's vibe city and im the mayor but it sure would suck big time to be inevitably rejected from at least one if not all of them. this mercury retrograde is certainly not helping matters ;_;

here's what i've seen on draft re syracuse: somebody said that until last monday, the admissions committee hadn't yet met to discuss apps and had only been individually reading them. a current student said a couple days ago that as far as she knew, no decisions had been made yet. i personally don't think decisions are going to happen today or like,, THAT soon;. so yeah, what they said ^

the diversity question felt valid to me (as a brown, non binary lesbian) BUT same about the sop. i knew before i sent it in that this one AINT it. i was also VERY thrown off by the email. at first i thought that a personal email would mean that i actually have a shot elsewhere, but seeing that it's a form email, my hopes took a hit. either way, on we go waiting for other decisions!

just got my first rejection from northwestern! had messed up my sop a bit and lowkey despised one of my critical writing essays so i knew it wasn't going to be a positive response. appreciate the kind email, though! also, bad juju that i was listening to one of my "college rejection" playlists a few hours ago and received the rejection just now? i will be deleting that playlist now haha (edit: in my defense, it is a bangin playlist and i was feeling cinematic on a road trip dont @ me) time to play the waiting game again for a bajillion years (1r/5p)
