Yeah this is a good point. Im guessing people can deny an offer on the 15th but I dont think most people will wait that long

Yes I thought assistantships are awarded? The program director said when an assistantship is available I forward it to all current/potential students to apply for. Really weird I thought that would be included in my offer of acceptance.

Is it normal to not be able to secure an assistantship until after you put a deposit down/commit to the school?

Just curious since I am on the waitlist for UF as well - did they give you any updates in terms of how their waitlist is going?

Just my opinion but congrats both are great schools You should think about how the location will really impact you. Will you be able to travel and see your family? What will your support system look like? Any grad program can turn miserable if you don't have your other needs met (social support/overall satisfaction living in your area)

Hey just wondering what everyone thinks of a faculty member calling you a strong candidate during an interview? Im not sure what to think

So I did email the coordinator and ask how the waitlist works this is what he sent. "We don’t actually rank order applicants. When we get an opening we go back into the pool and make decisions. When I have more information for you, I will let you know as soon as possible."

guessing its rude to ask how high I am on the waitlist? Seeing a bunch of people got waitlisted today...i would prefer a rejection if theres no shot for me. Also the UF coordinator spelled my name wrong in the email...rubs me the wrong way

Ok sorry that doesnt make sense How many people are in your interview group? There is no way 24 people are in my group since only 6 names are listed for a faculty interview. Maybe mine has 6 people because it is the last one?

Ok interesting mine is from 1-3:30 I am group H Pretty sure I read in their handbook they admit 20 people to masters each round so I guess thats good odds.

Thats so strange... looks like from the list of faculty interviews they would only be interviewing 6 people. Unless maybe they sent different emails to different groups of applicants? Im probably overanalyzing but just curious.

Do a lot of schools invite a large amount of people to interview? For UF they are accepting 12 eds and phd combined but are interviewing 40 people. Im probably just overthinking but that seems like a lot for a small cohort
