popping in here to say, if you have a more competitive offer from another school, always always use that as leverage in getting more funding. i spoke directly with the head of the dramatic writing program and he was able to bring up my funding significantly, but i decided to go with UT as the offer worked better for my situation. financial aid can't really do much since the school itself is large, i'd go directly to the faculty if you can! best of luck!

annnnd thats a wrap for me as well! i've officially declined my offer at NYU, so hopefully that offers another one of y'all a spot. my 20-21 recap: UT Austin: interviewed and accepted NYU: interviewed and accepted Juilliard: ? (will likely withdraw) thankful for this group and am a good ol mixture of scared/happy to be leaving NY for TX! i'm so grateful to all of you, please don't be a stranger and hmu in my inbox if you ever want to link / chat beyond this crazy forum. all the best to you!!

best of luck to you @bold ! anything is possible, trust that instinct!! and random, but for friends who may be looking at NYU, i know most accepted will be getting financial assistance responses at the earliest mid next week. i’ve also heard it could be end of next week. i hope for a response soon so i can figure out where ill be committing to, but just for those who are WL and may want some timeline context. and anooootha question, juilliard seems like more unknown territory on here as well. anybody have any more info / updates about them and their response schedule? would it be strange to email them and inquire about timeline... i kind of want to get responses out as soon as i can blarrrrgh

i’m in at NYU! depending on what the financial aid package looks like, i’ll be either accepting / declining. either way, there will be a spot opening up either at UT or NYU! congrats all and to everyone still waiting on responses, sending all the good energy your way!

i have also interviewed from NYU and haven't heard anything since, anyone know when they notify typically? & also on the juilliard train but that feels so far if they won't start contacting until april 15... have debated withdrawing my app but who knows.

yes to all of this!! thank you and congrats!! regardless of the results, to apply to grad school is a feat in itself and we should definitely make the time to honor the work, blood, sweat, and tears sacrificed to get to this point. i hope all of you can step away from this forum from time to time, take a breath, and celebrate the badazz that is you and your work. you did the thing—applying to grad school—but echoing sandringham that is not the end all be all and there is not one “right” way to grow as a playwright. existing is enough, existing is enough!! if y’all ever need to vent / chat / take a breath / celebrate you, know that my inbox is always open! happy thurs yall and all the best!

@sadringham may indeed! while i'm 99% sure i'll end up accepting, i want to make sure i see things out with the other schools / groups i applied to through the end. so, being that i won't hear from most until april, i will hold off on officially accepting, but again, i've been looking at places in austin already so i'm pretty sold bahaha! and congrats congrats congrats to everyone! such good news, love the positivity that stays generating in here!!! ❤️ wishing you all thebest always. and again, echoing off of everyone, an mfa does not define you and i hope that this process is more encouraging vs destructive. also my toilets broken so ive been trying to fix it all day, gonna continue at it lol happy wednesday!

hi! i just finished mine. it was super chill, i was shaking the whole time but overall they were so sweet. we kind of touched based on playwrights i looked up to, my journey to where i am, etc.. nothing extraordinary! they were very sweet though and im just glad i got it done!! haha worried i talked too much be c'est la vie. sounds like yours went well!! i hope good things for you and everyone on here!
