Yes, the limbo is weird and kind of nerve-wracking, but I don't think it'll go beyond March 15. They said all applicants, rejected and accepted, would have an answer by mid-March. Hang in there!
-
I'm sure it went through. I can't see the images either, and I'm in the same place as you: portal just says "submitted", no rejection but also no acceptance. I think it's just that you can't see the images on this portal, all the other ones seemed to show them. During the process I emailed the Head of Interdisciplinary Studio to ask if applications were shared between Areas of Study, and apparently yes, mine was actually shared with another Area of Study - so I'm assuming it was correctly submitted, images and all, but without showing them on the portal.

Anyone here applied to UCLA and hasn't heard back at all? No interview, no email of acceptance, but also no update/rejection on the portal.
-
Congrats! I was also admitted and I'm wondering the same thing as both of you. I guess if there's any funding they'll let us know before we need to make the decision, right? also if there's no funding they should let us know as well, I guess (?)

Nothing yet for me.

Applied for Interdisciplinary Studio at UCLA and have heard nothing at all (no interview). I know it's probably healthier to assume rejection at this point, but the fact that they don't interview every finalist still gives me some (perhaps naive) hope. And 45 min ago I just had my interview for New Genres at Columbia, I felt it went quite good. Don't know when I'll hear back. (Edit: Sorry, I don't know if this is helpful regarding sculpture department, perhaps not)

Hi, I got a call yesterday about acceptance to the program as well! One day after the original poster said they were admitted.
-
Haven't heard anything and the wait is killing me
-
This extremely nice of you to say, muchas gracias CHEABie. But what makes you think you will not get into UCLA if they don't interview everybody? (I know that having an interview is always a good sign, but I feel like I'm pushing for the optimistic side of things...) Did you also apply for Interdisciplinary/New Genres? I haven't been interviewed by them, so I'm praying for us to be finalists without interview... Best of luck for the Columbia interview!
-
I guess it depends on the program, if you're expecting to hear from a school (or more specifically a department in that school) that you have confirmation that it already had some rounds of interviews, then perhaps yes you're out. But if the school or department either hasn't sent out interviews for anyone, or doesn't interview all of the finalists (like UCLA says it does) then I wouldn't consider myself out just yet. I was ruling out columbia's new genres (because people here said they were already being contacted by its painting department) but I received my invitation to interview just today a few hours ago. Right now I'm expecting to hear from UCLA Interdisciplinary/New Genres - some people had an interview but my hope is placed on being one of the finalists that isn't called for interview, which is perhaps naive optimism... I don't know. It helped me a lot to see if people here were posting about the programs I applied to.

I applied for photo and already received an acceptance, by phone, but if I don't get more scholarship I wouldn't be able to attend... the news was equal parts exciting and kind of frustrating... I think they'll be giving news soon.

An update for anyone interested in Columbia. They just emailed me an interview invitation for New Genres.
-
I felt it went great! Maybe it's the rush but I felt very good about the whole thing. Mostly it was questions about my practice and the works I presented in the 5 minute intro + the usual stuff about what did I expect from the faculty and school, and what did I think I'll be pursuing in gradschool. They were super nice, I hope that's a good sign. Best of luck to everyone!!

Having my ATP interview in less than an hour - very very nervous, anyone has any last minute advice?
-
I saw someone saying that they had an invitation to interview for Interdisciplinary Studio and New Genres at UCLA - does anyone else here have received an invitation from them? I'm starting to lose hope, haven't heard from them
-
Congrats on the interview! I'm waiting for news from Interdisciplinary Studio. I also reached out asking if it was possible that my application was considered by other Areas of Study besides the one I applied to and they told me yes, that they actually had done that with mine. So I don't know what to expect. I haven't been asked to interview by any Area of Study at UCLA so I'm losing a bit of hope knowing that they already sent out some emails for that; but they also said "Please note that the department does not hold formal interview dates. Interviews are conducted for some finalist candidates, at the discretion of the faculty." - so I'm not sure what to expect now...
-
Just an update for anyone interested - I wrote an email regarding UCLA's interviews and this was the response: "Notification is typically sent out mid-March. At that time, all applicants will be invited, via email, to view their application decision status online. Please note that the department does not hold formal interview dates. Interviews are conducted for some finalist candidates, at the discretion of the faculty. Finalist applicants may be contacted by faculty via phone, email or skype, in the time leading up to notification."

Question. Do you think it's possible to apply to one Area of Study at UCLA and get suggested for another one (say, from Interdisciplinary studio to New Genres)? Or have you heard of anything similar? I know it's perhaps a dumb question, and the answer is most likely no, but I'm trying to be hopeful since now I'm thinking I made a mistake...

I applied to Columbia and have heard nothing. I believe that's also the case with everyone else applying there (from what I've read here)
-
only 1 out of my 3 recommenders was a professor. the other 2 were a curator and an artist that I've worked with and know my work well. I figured this would work better since they are more respected figures in the art world in Mexico (where I'm from). My professors during my BA were not that good nor active, except for the one I listed. Also other friends from Mexico that have done MFAs have done the same and told me it was better.
-
Now I'm thinking I should've applied to New Genre as well ... to be honest I've hated most of this process full of insecurities, fuck
-
Same, it also freaked me out, but is good to know that someone in the same area I applied hasn't got a response, and I saw somewhere else that they usually wait until late february (hopefully that's the case with us)
-
I'm thinking maybe they do interview for other disciplines at UCLA? like the painting one - anyway, that's what I'm telling myself until get a rejection
-
I saw someone already posting about having a painting interview with UCLA - does anyone know about their interdisciplinary studio? I haven't heard anything. I have an interview coming up with SAIC (Photography, but my work is interdisciplinary) and Northwestern ATP, extremely nervous about both. The questions shared here have been really helpful.
