I did my undergrad there. Giant City is a short drive away and has some cool trails. Garden of the Gods and Ferne Clyffe are a little farther away, but really great hiking spots. There's a split between the university affiliated people and the locals, with the locals being more Southern culturally and the university being more Northern. I've found most people to be pretty nice in the area.

I was told that we should hear back by March 1st, but I don't know if that's for all departments.

University of Wisconsin-Madison just sent an email out letting people know if they're on the wait list. I assume offers of admission have also been sent out or will soon.

I've asked questions about grad student outcomes, ie do graduates stay in the area? Does the program have specific objectives for their grads? What kinds of things have students recently gone on to do? Congrats on the interview! Who contacted you about it?
