Here's what they said exactly: "Because of COVID-19 decision letters have been pushed back by a week or so. If you haven’t heard by the end of March, then email me and tell me to send you a copy by email."
-
There goes Houston and Johns Hopkins exactly an hour apart
-
Emailed Iowa asking for a decision update and they said that letters were pushed back by a week due to COVID. Also said to email them back if I have not received a letter by the end of March and they will email me a copy of the letter.
-
Especially schools who choose to send Waitlists and rejections out by physical mail.
-
I saw a Johns Hopkins Fiction rejection on Draft. Has anyone else heard from them?
-
“My name is ___ and I am an applicant for ___. I was wondering if you could give me any information on when MFA decisions will be going out.” And if I’m not sure if I’m emailing the right person, I add: ”If you are not the right person to ask about this, can you please point me in the right direction?”
-
Emailed Rutgers-Camden and they said decisions should be out by the end of the week. I don’t know if this means all decisions or just acceptances.
-
A JHU undergrad asked and they said they should start sending out decisions within the next week.
-
For those who applied, there was a Brooklyn College poetry acceptance on draft recently
-
Saw a VCU waitlist on Draft but never saw any acceptances. Maybe they told people to be hush about it. Anyone else hear from them?
-
Just had a mini heart attack cuz I got an automated email saying “The University Texas at Austin has made a decision on your application for graduate admission” and telling me to check my portal but it was just them updating my NWP portal and not the Michener one ?
-
Finally got my rejection from NC State via email to check portal. This one hurts less since I already knew it was coming but still not feeling great.
-
So I’ve noticed some John Hopkins poetry rejections on draft but haven’t seen any acceptances or waitlists. Would it be normal for them to send rejections first?
-
Mine still in review too, but so is my NWP portal and I already received a rejection from them
-
I think it’s fairly common but certainly depends on a lot of factors. I know that everything regarding waitlists moves super fast when April 15th hits.
-
They still haven’t processed mine ? I emailed to ask about it and they said it was fine. The Draft post was from a current student who was asked to share by a professor since they had so many people asking about timeframe.
-
Someone just posted on draft 5 minutes ago that they got accepted for fiction via phone call.
-
I imagine the both Texas programs will announce around the same time, but probably not on the same day. Iowa has not released rejections. From what I've heard (nothing concrete) they take a while to make acceptances calls before sending physical mail to notify waitlists and then they send out rejections.
-
Ah, I’ve heard of him. Didn’t recognize this one. Thanks for the heads up.
-
This is nothing like that. They’re just saying not to worry too much from what other people are hearing. Goodness, some of you people need to keep your pessimism to yourself.
-
Okay, so I'm slowly giving up hope for Iowa, Houston, and Hollins (still holding out for a waitlist), so I'm going to go ahead and move on to worrying about other programs (hooray for my mental health). These programs I haven't heard anything about any sort of contact: John Hopkins, Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth, Boston, & Florida. Has anyone heard anything about these programs? Thank you in advance.
-
I can see it on mine. I’m pretty sure it’s been there the whole time, but I have no way of knowing for sure.
-
I haven’t seen anything today. Everything I’ve heard leads me to believe it’s a long process for getting out calls for them. I also heard that they notify waitlists through physical mail (god knows why). I’m not sure how they notify rejections.
-
Did anyone hear from Houston today? Saw that someone got a acceptance call for poetry today.
-
I haven’t seen anything for fiction, but most places announce poetry and fiction around the same time. I was expecting it to be a rolling process, but I’m still freaking out ?
